What is the best way to start off on my new years resolution

I was thinking the best way for me to start off would be walking 30 minutes a day and drinking a green smoothie everyday for breakfast. What do you think?
Just thought I'd include this incase it wasn't just assumed: My resolution is to lose weight

I've written the same thing many times, and I think your idea is perfect. Pick a couple of things to commit to. In my opinion, habit is EVERYTHING. It will carry you when motivation is weak, and it will be someday. Create a few good habits and build from there. Maybe choose one bad habit to try to eliminate. Set a reasonable goal, like 5 times per week for your walks, and make it non-negotiable, but maybe have an alternative exercise as part of your plan in case of calamity.0

Resolutions are very personal things. Don't ask us what we think of your resolutions, girl. The reason for a resolution is for you to work on something that YOU feel you need to improve on, change, or achieve. You're over thinking it, hun. Just make a short list of the things you want to work on and do it. Then perhaps think about what Henry Moore said:
"I think in terms of the day's resolutions, not the year's." – Henry Moore
Good luck! *hug*0 -
I'm not asking for opinions ON my resolution I'm asking whats the best way to start it off? Like maybe the most successful way possibly?! But thank you for your opinion0

Well I guess its safe to assume since I'm on here asking for advice and my ticker only says I lost 1lbs and that I am starting off by walking 30 minutes a day that I would like to lose weight lol Sorry if I sound snooty but it really seems like an obvious thing to me0

I learned along time ago not to make assumptions. If you wanted advice on losing weight you should have stated that and not assumed that it was obvious. How hard is it to say "My new years resolution is to lose X amount of weight. Can you guys give me some advice on a good way to start?"
There are some people who are here to just eat healthier and not lose weight, there are others who are here to bulk up and gain muscle, and there are others who want to make other types of changes. When you're on this site for over a year you tend to ignore other people's tickers for the most part as it doesn't always mean anything.
There really was no reason to be, as you said, snooty about it. It's not very nice to be rude to people who are trying to help you.
As for a good way to start if you want to lose weight I suggest making small and sustainable changes to your diet and exercise routine. One of the worst things some people do to themselves is to try and make DRASTIC changes over night. Then they end up feeling deprived and quit. As for how much to walk - it depends on how much you walk now. A good way to start is to get a pedometer and find out how much you walk on a daily basis. Wear it every day if you can and try to increase your steps every day. If you walk 1 mile today, shoot for 1.5 miles tomorrow. Sometimes small and gradual changes are more helpful in the long run.0 -
