New HRM help!

I just got a Sportline HRM for Christmas and I guess I'm confused as to how to read it. I did a HIIT workout today expecting some pretty good results in calories burned (I used to just use the Nike app on my phone which was just a pedometer and not an HRM). Anyway, I did a 30 min HIIT workout and my heart rate seemed correct but when I look at my calories burned, it said 37? This obviously doesn't seem right. Am I reading this wrong? Please help! PS: its the sportline HRM watch if that helps

There is no way you burned 37 calories doing HIIT! I burn more watching tv on the couch! If it has a chest strap, it may be too loose and the contact was not picking up your HR the entire time you were working out.

    oops, double post.
  • hahaha my thoughts exactly! It's a watch actually so its nice and tight on my wrist....not sure what the deal is. I read a little in the manual and all I can think of was maybe I have to update my heart rate throughout the workout. I don't know. I'm so confused!

I have always used a polar, with the chest strap. But what I have read from the boards here on MFP, the wrist HRM's are not as accurate, so be careful with eating your calories.
  • ooohh ok that's a good tip! Thanks!
