While not a huge fan of McDonald's, I do like their Big Macs. I thought I would try to make a homemade version of the popular hamburger and was pleased with the results. It tasted exactly like the real thing.

While the calories are pretty close to the original (you save between 50-100 depending on how much sauce you use), this version is much healthier because you are using real, fresh, ingredients. To make your burger a mere 349 calories per serving, simply omit the middle bun and reduce the sauce by half.

    I wonder if you got rid of the middle bread, I bet it will really cut down the calories. Looks really good.

  • I work at McDonalds....I would have to say that this looks BETTER than a Big Mac!! It looks ginormous too! I always find I'm hungry a few hours after eating McD's, but using fresh ingredients will mean you stay fuller for longer! Plus you won't want the greasy fries. That burger looks amazing!!

    Looks good, hubby likes big macs, me not so much. But I will give it a shot!! Actually I might make one for me using turkey meat and sandwich thins whole wheat bread. This might be pretty tasty, lol.
