Ex Runner/Tennis Player Suffering Tunnel Vision

Options
I'm an ex-runner, kickboxer, tennis player, rollerblader, blah, blah, blah.

The problem is that I tore my ACL, for which I need surgery (as soon as I can afford to be bed-bound with weeks off of work).

Anyhow, I've gone from 150-160 and eating EVERYthing I wanted, to being 190'ish and eating only most of what I want.

I've always been crazy active, and now with a hurt "knee", I'm not even supposed to walk much as it will make it harder when my time for a tune-up finally arrives.

I've got tunnel vision as the only calorie-burning exercises I can think of are all running-based (because that's what I love).

Any suggestions for something to do?

Thanks, Will

PS: I live in Cleveland and the snow's about to come (and I don't dare do anything where I might fall!).

    Swimming?

Indoor pools can be used year around and swimming is certainly easy on the joints.

I'd really never thought of swimming as I'm not a great swimmer, but there's a nice pool nearby. Now I just have to get the stones to take my shirt off in public now. Mooo.

    Thanks, it just might help!
