I'm so discouraged

I lost about 2.5 lbs and then gained it back, but my close are fitting better and I can tell I'm losing inches...I don't get it. I have some questions:
How often should you weigh yourself?
What's the best time of day to weigh yourself?
What is a healthy weight for a female who is 5'6 and has a medium build?
I'm not going to give up, but I do like seeing results...I'm just sad and discouraged.
Thanks for listening.

Don't get discouraged, you are seeings results in inches!!! I only weigh in once a week, same day, same time ( in the morning before I eat or have coffee or exercise).0

Don't let yourself get discouraged! The scale is a fickle fickle thing.
I don't weigh more than once a week, and sometimes I'll skip a week if I feel like it. The scale is a good way to have a general idea of how you're doing with your weight loss, but sooo many things can cause it to fluctuate.
I always weigh in the morning (Sunday morning for me, just cause that is the most convenient time) before I eat or drink anything, and after using the bathroom.
If your clothes are fitting better than you are making progress. The scale will catch up eventually.
I'm 5'7 and my goal weight right now is 150 lbs, if that gives you an idea. I may adjust my goal when I get there, but 150 puts me into the 'healthy' BMI (which is also just a general guideline).0 -
Congratulations!!!
Inches are WAY more important than pounds. Pounds can be affected by a number of factors, most importantly the oft-repeated fact that muscle weighs more than fat. Who wants to be skinny without that great muscle tone? I think one of the biggest traps is the constant need to quantify getting a healthier body using only your weight number and not more important concerns--how do you *feel*? how do you look? Good? Great!
Who sees the number on your scale? Just you. Who sees you looking awesome in your jeans? Everyone!
Don't trip, your weight never tells the whole story.0 -
I usually weigh once a week and I do it first thing in the morning when I am stripped down. Sometimes I weigh every morning well aware that I can easily fluctuate 2 lbs from water variances but it helps me focus on my eating that day. I think about what I am going to eat while I put my make up on so I am mentally prepared to face the day. I have only just started trying to lose weight AGAIN. I decided to just be me for awhile and to stop fighting my food problems, just another excuse to eat poorly and gain weight. Now I realize I only have two options stay and fight or run and hide. I have decided it will be a really rough and hard battle but in the end of my personal war I want to be victorious. I am 5' 3" and am aiming for the top of my weight range 140. http://www.weightwatchers.com/health/asm/calc_healthyweight.aspx it will give you your weight range. Good Luck with your battle!0

How often you weigh is up to you and what you can handle. I personally weigh every morning but only log my Monday morning weight on MFP. Things can get out of hand for me in a weeks time so once a week is out of the question. Others can't handle the fluctuations they see daily on the scale but it doesn't bother me.
I'm also 5'6" and of medium build. My goal weight is 135 but if I could get to 140 I would be happy. You know how we women can go up and down 5-10 pounds so if I got to 135 or 140 my heavy days would be 145-150.
Don't get discouraged though you want the numbers to go down yes, but having your clothes fit better means you're losing inches, which you also want. Eventually you'll see the number go down too! Hang in there.0 -
Im in the same boat there with you, but you just gotta keep your head up and work it out!:flowerforyou:0
