I saw my mum recently, and she gushed about how well I'm looking.
"Look at that! You have a whole...neck! And a CHIN!"

...Did I not before? Was it THAT bad? Haha, thanks Mum.
What she was trying to say is that I look great, and she's proud of me :)

    AWWW.... Sometimes we don't compliment people well. At least you know she means well.

    Gotta love those. Though, it is quite funny when people don't sugar coat things and just say the first thing that pops in their head. Last time I got my hair cut, it was a bit choppy. I got a few compliments, and then my coworker with the same name as me came up and said (in thick asian voice) "Oh, you got your hair cut"...plays with it...."I don't like it. Grow it out again."

    i'm glad you took it the right way! one time I took a look at a sort-of friend and said "wow! you lost a ton of weight!" and was all smiles about it because I meant to say "you look great!" ... and it was pretty awkward afterward gotta say =/ *sigh*
