Processed foods and body aches

I did a diet challenge at work right before Christmas where we could not eat processed grains. We could only have whole grains. We also could not have refined sugar. While I was doing this challenge, I noticed that a lot of my "morning pains" and back pains went away. Since I've stopped, they have come back. So, I guess, this year that will be what I work on. I had Lyme Diesase this summer and that is when the morning stiffness really got bad. My guess is that my body now has an extra hard time processing these processed foods. I don't eat a lot of processed foods but I did make cookies this week and had dessert on a few occasion during the holidays. Just thought I would share.....

Very Interesting! It's cool to see such and obvious correlation between processed foods and how your body is working. I suppose there's nothing like personal experience to motivate a person. Thanks for sharing!0

OHHHHHH most definitely!
The cleaner you eat, the less physical effects come around...
Medically, I have to eat as clean as possible due to allergies, sensitivities, a metabolic disorder that when it flares its off the charts on how bad Im affected... UGH!!!!!
If you think about 20 to 30 -something years ago, and compare it to today -the one thing that stands out is the usage of preservatives, chemical treatments, fillers, alternative sweetners, modified foods, etc....... Now its all that garbage they pump into meats, the inhuman amounts of sodium put into processed foods whether boxed or canned, or even FROZEN!!!! Its sickening!!!!
My heel spurs used to flare up so bad that I could no longer walk - I would stop in my tracks thinking "damnit, Im about to scream bloody murder they freakin' HURT!"... now, the true pain that comes through is just the brief pull here and there because I stood/laid down in one position for a while... the inflamation was from all the processed foods, the sodas, the artificial sweetners that companies use in their product line....
Ive been clean eating for almost a decade, and I could cry at the thought because had I known back then, what I know now... I never would have been in so much pain...0 -
You got it half right. To really improve your health and lose weight effortlessly you have to give up ALL wheat.
Whole wheat is just as bad as any other.

Sorry Dan but not everyone has to give up wheat or whole wheat to lose weight in conjunction with a clean diet. I allow myself ONE serving of whole wheat in a low-carb bread alternative and my ticker is showing my success very well and Im continuing to lose weight...
Not everyone will have the same issues relating to their weight...0 -
I noticed the same thing a few years ago when I did an elimination diet. AMAZING!!! No back and hip creaking. Went back to my old way of eating and there it was again.
I had some food allergy testing done last fall. I had suspected my problem was wheat. As it turns out I have sensitivities to Wheat, Dairy and a strong reaction to Eggs. Basically, thIs means nothing processed for me.
It's been a big change and it's not easy, but my waist line likes it. I can have some wheat and dairy here and there and still feel good. I haven't really identified how the eggs make me feel since any eggs I've eaten have come along with the other offenders.
From my own experience, I think most of us would benefit from eliminating items that tend to be allergenic and add back individually to see if it makes a difference in how we feel.
I'm glad that I've had the opportunity to find out about my sensitivities, I didn't realize how bad I was feeling until I felt better! There is no magic bullet for everyone. Our bodies react in their own way, over time, that can even change. The lesson I've learned is if you don't feel good keep searching until you find the answer.0 -
It makes sense. I notice when I stop drinking diet soda that my joints don't hurt as much. Could be that I'm drinking a lot more water but I see the correlation.0

Since cutting out processed foods I have....
1. Lost 145 lbs
2. Dont have nearly the problems with arthritis and joint pain. Yes some of this due to weight loss but a lot of it stopped early on after the first 30 days or so.
3. I dont have Migraine, Cluster, Tension, and Sinus headaches like I used to. I used to get them on a weekly basis bad enough to make me throw up. I would lay in my room for days with no lights on. I have 3 headaches in the past 2 years now.
4. I feel better. Yes the weight loss helps but I can tell you when I eat out or eat a processed meal I will be sick, feel sluggish, and totally different from the way I normally do now.
Our bodies have gotten so used to being mistreated that we didnt know that it wasnt normal to feel that way all the time. Once we clean up our diets and we feel different, we never want to go back to the way we used to feel.0
