... my place of employment has actually lost money on me today. I've been here for, oh, almost 6 hours, took an 1 1/2 lunch and I've been completely avoiding any type of work all day. This isn't my usual of course, but hell, the place is 95% empty due to the holidays.

Anyone else in the same boat?

I have guys at work who go for smoke breaks hourly, or even every 30 minutes. I estimate one guy is there for 5 hours of his 7-8 hours shift some days.

I work at an ice cream store, and it's winter. So... last night I read cosmo and ate pretzels, tonight I plan to write my essay for my application to the education program. I like getting paid for doing things I need to do anyway :P

Over half of our office is gone this week. I took only two days vacation last week because when I booked my flight we had a huge bid due January 6th so I needed to be in the office working... now that's been pushed 2 weeks so I'm sitting in a ghost town of an office.

I work at a pub in a very buisnessy area. No one around is really open yet from the holiday break Today we pulled a setee out of our VIP lounge, parked it in front of the plasma screen and watched Never Been Kissed! We all just sat around drinking and talking all day. A few people came in, but we just got them a pint and sat back down, haha It was so good.

I'm self employed. Everytime I goof off I write myself up and threaten to fire myself. Then I go complain about my hard @ss boss online.

Definitely slower this week. I have tried to get ahold of people for various things on the phone and it is almost impossible especially in Canada. Makes for a slower week.

my work is a "no work done, no pay" situation ... I always treat it like that.

That said I am at work, but working from home today doing online data entry. No one else is at work and, well I can clock on and off whenever and kinda my own boss anyway :o)

I have almost zero willpower when I'm that close to food. I literally would have to start wearing a mumu to work.

totally pisses me off. But then again, I'm a social butterfly at work and I'm sure I screw off just as much time as the smokers do. I definitely use the "i'm houlier than thou" approach with them.

(in my defense, when there is work that needs to get done, i do it. i swear i don't suck)

I work for an American company but we're bidding a job in BC, it seems like no one in Canada is working this week, sooo frustrating!

Lot's of fresh snow in the mountains, so we are all either skiing or snow boarding! Some may have escaped to a hot tropical destination. Only a few of us are left working.

nope...my office was busy as hell! one doctor quit couple of weeks ago with no warning, one is off this week for the holidays and one was off because it was her day off...that left me to see all of the patients today! Lots and lots of pregnant women who are due and all of them want to have the new year baby! think i might have to have a beer tonight!

You do at home data entry? Do you mind sharing info on it? My husband only works part-time (doing data entry) and has been looking for something at home where he can pick up extra hours but there are so many out there that are scams.

For the OP's question, I had today off but my office this week has been dead. I suspect next week will be the same.
