I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue. I fall asleep very easy, however I wake up atleast six times a night! Which is about once an hour. I usually fall asleep fairly easy but sometimes it takes me a few minutes to get back to sleep. I go to bed around 10 PM and have to be up at 4:30 AM for work! Anyone else ever have this problem and if so do you have any suggestion on how to get a better nights sleep! Tried all the Tylenol, and Advil PM products along with the Melitonin. Nothing seems to help! Let me know if you know of something. Thanks

I wake up around 4 times/night. I guess it depends upon why you wake up. Is your head spinning with thoughts? does your body ache? is your mattress or pillow due to be replaced? Apnea? caffeine too late? exercise too close to bed? Too much TV before bed?

There are things that can be done for each of these and you can research them online.

sorry I'm not more helpful but with not knowing you that is all I can do.

Are you waking up just waking up? Are you waking up to go potty? How is your alcohol consumption at night? Are you limiting caffeine later in the day?

No aches or pains! No meds added! I don't think my head is spinning with thought. Bed is new and so is mattress! Been having this problem for well over a year now! Would just love a good night of un interupted sleep! Will have to check with the Dr when I go in the spring if I can't figure it out before then! Oh and yea I did give up the Meth habit didn't help! LOL J/K

I have that issue myself. Not as many times a night (I get up at least twice). But I also have a little trouble falling asleep. Though recently since I've been drinking this ginger tea, I find myself dozing during the day which is not helping me at bedtime. It could be dietary. Are you taking any supplements with caffeine in them?

Ditto. I can go to sleep and then wake up many times but fall back to sleep most times easily enough. I have tried melatonin which did not work at all, in fact in made it worse, hard to go to sleep and I felt restless. Wish I had an answer for you then I would be ok too. I have also tried sleeping tablets, natural remedies, warm baths etc. Think we might just have to live with it. Maybe we will grow out of it.

not sure you should wait til spring to see your doctor. maybe having problems with sleep apnea and it might be what's waking you up. also...how much grains are you eating in your diet? any kind of "irritable bowel" type symptoms?

Do you exercise regularly? I've suffered from a sleeping disorder for years. Can't fall asleep and when I do, can't stay asleep. I used to just load myself of with sleeping meds, depending on when it was, either prescription or OTC. Always felt gross in the am, developed a tolerance and had to take more, or they just didn't plain work. Then after I had my daughter, three years ago, I stopped taking almost everything, other than the occasional tylenol or advil for pain. I won't even take cold medicine anymore. So I exercise. It's the only thing that works and doesn't make me feel gross. The days I don't, I find sleeping an issue, so I try to get some in every day.

Have you tried meditation? I get like that every once in a while and if I can get mentally calm before I go to bed I sleep great! I got some guided meditation sessions on itunes, they are 10 minutes or less in length and there are some just to prepare your mind for sleep. It's worth a try at least.

I haven't slept through the night in 25 years. II'm an incurable insomniac. It's just the way my body runs, I guess. It can be miserable. I hope you find something that helps you. A good night's sleep can be a blessing!!!! When I sleep "well" I wake up every hour or so. When I'm not sleeping well, I don't go to sleep till about an hour before the alarm. Hope your doctor can help!! None of mine have!!

I wake up several times a night if the house isn't dark or if someone else is moving around. My son keeps odd hours, so the nights he's up, I get precious little sleep. I usually fall right back to sleep, but sometimes it takes a couple of hours before I finally go back to sleep. Don't know why - it's either right back to sleep or 2 hours of tossing. :ohwell: Hope you find an answer - Good luck!

I get up about 6 times a night to go to the bathroom... sometimes just 40 minutes after I last went

I went to the dr and she tested me for thyroid issues, diabetes, etc

However she also asked about my alcohol and water consumption. I tend to have a drink or two everynight which is likely contributing to my issue.

But the most important this was the water intake.

See where I am, I am on well water. I use one of those Brita filters but apparently doesnt matter - the water here has a HUGE proportion of salt in it compared to treated water. So she suggested I switch to drinking bottled water and see if that helped

The point is, I realize you didnt say you got up to urinate, but you might want to look at your salt intake anyways. when you are up moving around things are doing the same, but when you lay down things tend to concentrate - and sinze salt causes you to retain water, where it might have been spread out when your moving about it may be focuse to your stomach or feet when you're asleep- you may be getting stiffness or swelling because and not realizing that this is what is waking you up because its mild.....After consuming too much salt, you’re likely to feel bloated and uncomfortable, and this could cause you to wake up at night too as you're not as likely to notice it until in a horizontal position putting extra pressure on your abdomen and back....just a thought to look at!
  • winter time problem only???? If so it is usually a lack of vitamin D which you get from the Sun but with less sun well = less D suplement that in your diet, and D can just stand for Dream!! hope you get your ZZZZZzzzz back!!

i'm only 20 years old, and I experience this. I joined my college's cross country & track team this year, and it has gotten a lot worse. After a hard workout, I will wake up because i'm so stiff and in pain, but it only takes me a second to get back to sleep. I also wake up at least once to pee. lol. that's "normal" for me tho. If this is new for you, maybe go to the doc.

I am a restless sleeper too. I fall asleep just fine, but wake up a lot in the middle of the night. Toss and Turn and sometimes just can't get back to sleep! :-( The only way I can manage a full night sleep is tylenol PM or nyquil......... which I don't do very often.
