What is the proper way to begin jogging/running. I've never donr this til yesterday and I'm not sure if I did it priperly or not. I would jog/run til it hurt about 30 to 90 seconds then walk long enough to catch my breath somewhat and repeated this for about 20 min. My entire body hurts all over this morning now though?! Is this a good thing? Any input woukd be great! I just want to lose weight a bit faster and have heard this can help

Google it and you will find all sorts of sources for programs. It's great for beginners.0 -
You might like the couch to 5k program. It starts you out walking and jogging at intervals like that and by the end of the program you can run for 30 minutes straight. Sounds like you are doing something similar so you might like the structure! I've been doing it for 3 weeks and I still feel like that. Good luck!0

Check out couch potato to 5K (C25K). There is a group that you can join on here and there is a free app for it, too! It's an 8 or 9 week program that gradually builds you up from mostly walking to being able to run a 5K (or non-stop) for 30 minutes. My wife has always struggled with running, but she's already doing week 2 of the program and she's doing great! I'm on week 3 and can't wait to be able to run a 5K nonstop!!0

First off, congratulations on taking a positive step for yourself. The posters above me talking about C25K are right on. Second, yep, you're starting in the right direction. You can expect some soreness in places you haven't noticed before. If it hurts, slow down. If it doesn't hurt, slow down. Lots of new runners start out by trying to go too fast and end up injured, too sore to continue, or just not liking it. You should be breathing heavily, but still able to carry on a conversation.
There's a whole group for C25K'ers here on MFP at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/30-couch-to-5k-running-program-c25k. Hope to see you there.0
