I am heading up an Office Biggest Loser competition. I am trying to think of weekly goals besides losing weight. (ie: drink 64 ounces of water a day, take the stairs instead of th elevator..etc). Any more ideas?

  • I won my office biggest loser. Lost 80 pounds. Since then I've lost more, 145 total.
Best suggestion would be, DON'T EAT WHEAT.
    Don't eat sugars.
Eat lost of fat and protein.
Don't try to exercise to lose weight.
    Don't count calories.
    Don't worry about cholesterol.
    Do these things and:
    Watch your energy level rise.
    Watch the pounds fall off.
  • I, too, am heading up an office Biggest Loser group myself next week. Outside of recording everyone's weigh-ins, I'm sending out an email every week on weight loss advice to help my team to victory. I personally do a low-carb diet, but I have to be mindful that not everyone is necessarily understanding of this advice, so I have to keep it high-level enough that it applies to anyone trying to lose weight regardless of dietary approach.

I think my first email will talk about the value of feedback beyond the scale weight. More specifically, taking a before picture, using a body fat percentage machine, taking measurements, different blood tests as part of a physical, and of course, MFP! In fact, I might do another email explaining MFP to the uninitiated--it's a great weight loss tool in many ways. Anyway, from the scale alone, it's almost impossible to assess to what extent one is losing body fat to lose weight vs. losing muscle mass and water. Some people don't care how they lose weight as long as the scale number goes down, but it makes a big difference if you're also trying to recompose your body versus simply becoming a smaller version of whatever figure you have.

I'm looking forward to reading some other ideas on this.

Focus on fitness and body competition rather than "pounds lost".

Five servings of fruits and veggies
Hitting 100% of calcium, iron, and potassium
Doing a new workout like dancing/Zumba, yoga
Getting a certain number of miles in by walking, running, or elliptical
Keeping sugar below 25 grams a day
    Nothing besides water to drink

    Hope this helps!

most days in a row exercising
    counting vegie servings
    healthy recipe of the week
