no one seems to know so i thought id throw this out there:

does anyone know if the Nike + app works on the treadmill or do I need the sensor? The app said it works indoors but my friend said the app doesn't work for him on the treadmill, only outside *scratches head*

  • I want to know too, before I download it... do I have to have special shoes?

I read the description of the updated version from what I had and it say it uses the accelerometer in newer iPods and iPhones to log distance. I'm not sure how accurate that would be, but you should be able to put it in your pocket or hold it in your hand. I just shook my phone for 15 seconds and it said I had travelled .02 miles

What device are your using? I know a lot of the Nike apps do not have full function on some older devices.

It works on my iPhone4, so the accelerometer should work for you too. Try starting a run and shaking the phone for 30 seconds to see if it logs any distance.

I use the app on the treadmill, indoor track, and outside. I do however have the sensor in my shoe and have use the sensor in another sneaker I just put in under the cushion and it felt fine and it still recorded fine. I have the iPhone 4.
