Any realtors out there?

I've been working with my current agent for about 3 months now (she's our 3rd agent) and she is wonderful. She works 'round the clock and despite not being able to get a house yet, she really does a lot of work for us. Even though we're looking at very cheap bank foreclosures (which means low commision for her) she treats us just as if we were looking for million dollar homes.

So I'm wondering, when we finally get a house and all that good stuff, despite the fact that she will get paid some commision and it is her job, I would like to get her something as an added thanks for all the hard work she's done. Is this common, as an agent do you accept thank-you gifts from clients and if so does anyone have any suggestions as to what and how much? Thanks!

    Hey there,

I'm not a realtor but I am a commissioned salesperson... the single greatest gift you can give your realtor is a testimonial! Write a letter detailing what you said here and thanking her for all her hard work. Encourage her to put it on her website or add to her marketing collateral and of course tell everyone you know about her. Word of mouth is the greatest gift any commission only salesperson can get regardless of industry. Good luck with the house hunting!

I worked for a Realtor for a long while and I can say that anytime her clients gave her gifts she was deeply touched and kept those gifts in her office. After awhile things got a bit cluttered as you can imagine! haha.

Nothing wrong with presenting her with a little gift and as a previous commentor mentioned a testimonial might help too if she has a website or whatever.
