I'm really doing it...and the mistakes I've made recently.

In August of 2010 I made a lifestyle change. I've lost 98 lbs and I've gained strength and stamina. Today I'm running my first race ever! I'm running an 8k. I know I will probably be walking a good chunk of this race, but I am still going to do it! I will be running with a friend that trains and is ready to support and push me a little further.

However, my arthritis is acting up BAD! It has been in remmission this last year and I've felt great. I've never had swelling with my arthritis till yesterday. I'm in pain, but I refuse to let it keep me down. The bad thing ...the mistake I've made...I know why my arthritis is acting up. I've been eating horrible!!! I haven't logged like I should, I haven't been eating clean like I should, and I can tell my body is bogged down, I have low energy, I'm hurting and essentially misserable! I want my life back!

That's why today I'm starting fresh. Yesterday is gone and my mistakes will slowly disappear! I will remember that the holidays are not an excuse to forget to nourish your body. There may be more temptations, but they are also more poison to your body!

I have learned the hard way and I realize that the foods that are delicous AND nutritious are the foods I want to enjoy! I don't have the sweet tooth anymore that I use to. My mistakes weren't about the food...it was about the eating.

New day...new motives!

Good Luck to you all in 2012. I hope you see your future in a healthy way!

Congratulations on your weight loss and good luck with your race today! Half the battle is realizing when we've made poor choices and not continuing to make them. Here's to a healthy 2012!!

8k-That's awesome! I'm still having a hard time putting down the junk food since the holiday season. Let's support each other!
  • I did it!!! 8k done! 55:10. I didn't even come in last place for my age group. I'm so proud of myself!
  • Now that's inspirational! Thanks for sharing your story.

Do you have rheumatoid arthritis (I ask because you mention remission)? If so be very careful running on a swollen joint-- it can cause permanent damage. I hope you get to feeling better and congratulations :)

I do...in my feet, knees, hips and hands....but the swelling was in my hands. Thank you for your concern.
