Can you workout too much?

Okay, so I have been training to do a half a marathon (yah!!)...So to help with my endurance I have been One of the following every other day:
1. Stairs for 30 minutes (usually 2-3 miles), spinning for an hour (love it toooo much to ever give it up!) and then doing sprints for half a mile.
2. Run for 6-8 miles (did my first 6 miles in 1H4M57S last weekend!!) Hoping to work up to 13-15 miles...
3. Spin for 1 hour for endurance then run for 3 miles at 6 on treadmill.
4. Intervals 30 Sec 6-7, then 15 sec at 5, 15 sec at 5.5...and repeat for 3 miles and then just finish out 6-8miles.
So here is my problem...I can't eat all my calories burned!! I burn anywhere 800-1000 calories each workout. This also doesn't count my strength training calories burned. I just never been able to "Pack it away" and don't get crappy food :noway: . So I am not able to eat my calorie goal. Is that bad? But...I do love that I am starting to see my ABS!!!!!! (THEY EXIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! )
Any thoughts anyone???

I'll jump in here and give my 2 sense..
There is a such thing as working out too much, and it can lead to overtraining, which is something I have experience about twice in the past year. However, that was because I wasn't taking in enough calories and carbs. Overtraining symptoms include extreme fatigue, irritability, loss of sleep and appetite, and usually takes 3-5 days of complete rest to get back to normal.
My question for you is how are you feeling throughout the day? Are you drained? Tired? You also have to remember that you are burning calories during the day from just normal activities, If you are feeling low of energy, it might be time to increase the cals and carbs slightly.0 -
How am I feeling through out the day.... Well  I am a returning college student that is going to Pharmacy School next year! I do homework ALL night until 1AM ish...then wake up go to classes, go the the gym, and do homework!
But tired as in overdoing it... no, I don't think so. Not any different tired then I only get 5ish hours a night of sleep.
I don't have any symptoma that you mentioned...0 -
Well that's good then! The best advice that I can give in this situation is to just listen to your body! If you start to feel worn down, then increase the carbs and cals until you are back to normal again. Believe me, you will know when you need to start eating more!
Oh and I know exactly how you feel with being a college student, and am very thankful that is over with!0 -

Thanks! And WOW! Nice Abs!! PX90 User?? I have the dvds...just can't do a stupid pull up yet! soooo... i stopped doing it all together!0 -
That is a tough workout day along with staying up until 1:00 doing homework. A mom's point of view says don't wait until your body wears out to increase your cal to offset what you are burning. Even on biggest loser they stressed with their intense workouts to eat no less than 1200-1500 cal a day. Sounds like you are even doing more than them. If your body begins to get too tired one of the first symptons could be an injury. Abs are great/but an injury isn't. Just bump them up some for protection.
A slice of protein bread or good added carb bread with some peanut butter is good.0 -
Yeah, I have been doing P90X for over a year now! I have completely changed the way I look and am even one of the finalists for the $10,000 Quarterly Transformation Contest!
You have to be patient with the pull-ups, and even if you can't do one unassisted, you could always do some with the chair, which helps tremendously! The X is definitely the best program I have ever done!
I also just posted new pics on my website, which is www.iwanttogetripped.com!0
