I feel like running is so mental for me right now. Today I was thinking about how I didnt drink enough water, that I hadnt eaten in 3 hours, that it was too hot, what if I passed out etc.

:grumble: I am so mad at myself

Why cant I just run???

I hate running, I'd rather power walk. Even on the treadmill at a 6.0 if I jog rather than power walk for some reason its just more draining. I'm working on it though. :grumble:
Maybe if you just go out for a walk and while your out there if you feel like addin in the running then go for it... If not, at least you got in a nice walk:wink:

I hate running! I can never motivate myself to run. If I do, all I can think about is how to get to the next landmark I have set for myself so that I can walk!

So I don't use running as my main form of exercise. I do things I like, so it doesn't take the mental effort to get up and do it. I will run to play soccer, I will dance, I will jump on a trampoline, do yoga, do an exercise tape...

Find what you enjoy, you'll stick with it much better:)
  • I had A LOT of trouble when I started to run as well, I didn't want my neighbors to see because I was just starting, I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong, there were just so many things that scared me! But one day I just decided to do it, and it's completely natural now, I don't think twice about it.

You honestly just have to make yourself. But running is really an exercise that people love or hate, so if you don't like it, don't force yourself, find other ways to get in your cardio so you don't get bored!

I personally LOVE it, and it's amazing how it has transformed my body, state of mind, and stamina.

    Good luck!

Whenever I don't feel like running but know that I SHOULD run, I talk myself into doing a short version of one of my usual routes, just to get out for 10 or 15 minutes. Almost every time I end up feeling good enough 10 minutes into it to keep going, but even if I turn around and go home I can say to myself I at least got out there.

You psyched yourself out. You need to eat no later than 30 minutes before you run, hydrate before, during, and after your runs. Set realistic goals while running. You do not need to go super fast. Incorporate walk breaks too.

Not all run days are good ones. Believe me I know. I recently took 3 months off from running and gained 15 pounds which is why I am on here.

    good luck,

    A running coach

I was not able to run for many years. I hated it. I felt as if my body was falling apart with every step I took.
I was using walking as an exercise, but still the weight wasn't coming off and I had very painful knees. Then I added pilates to my workout and it changed my life. My core got stronger, my legs got stronger, the imbalance between my knees and hips was corrected (knees didn't hurt anymore) and I felt better overall. One day as I walking I felt the urge to run just to see what happens. I loved it so much, it felt good and I have been running every day ever since. As long as I keep up with my pilates routine I can run and I feel good doing it.

Why do you want to run? Is there any other for of exercise that you could be doing? Maybe (like me) your body just isn't ready for running.
