Insanity, any tips?

Tomorrow I am starting the Insanity program, I have everything ready aside from my food and drink, I am planing on doing it at about 3 PM (EDIT, changed to P.m as intended) and I have never done anything as intense as this (I usually do slow but long sessions when I work out)
Does anyone have any suggestions what I should have to eat and drink before, if at all, how long before etc.
Also how can I prepare for this in the morning?

3am?? that's early
don't be afraid to take a break, no one in the video does the workout start to finish) however don't take too long of a break. if there are exercises you can't do, do your best to modify them into something you can do until you are strong enough, or at least do crunches or pushups or something. have lot of water. I usually drank ~1 liter per workout, sometimes more, plus my after work out drink.
it is very important that you get enough sleep and the right nutrients. insanity is a very good workout but it is hard on your body (aka why i can't do it while in school )
tomorrow will just be your fit test, don't stress too much. there will be exercises you have no idea how you are going to get thru, just be strong and you will .and you'll be stronger for it0 -
I ment to put PM, it's 2.20 am right now so that really is not going to happen!
Thanks for the tips, I am not too worried about the hardness on my body as I have 3 months of nothing ahead of me but blood, sweat and my tears as I lose as much weight as I can.0 -
That is so early!!!
Be extremely hydrated and have plenty of water/recovery drink while you are doing it. I'm doing it for the 2nd time now and it's still so very intense. Do not be afraid to take breaks and definitely take the day off when it is time because it's extremely tough on your body!
Good luck. Add me a friend if you'd like!!0 -
WEAR EXCELLENT SHOES.
I currently have a stress fracture in my foot from wearing crappy shoes doing InSANITY and teaching Turbo Kick classes. TOTALLY my own fault. Make SURE your shoes are excellent!
I would have 1/3 of a P90X protein bar before I started InSANITY for the day or I wouldn't be able to get through it. If you have Results and Recovery formula, I REALLY recommend drinking that afterwards for at least the first week. REALLY helps!0 -

Tough call, it all depends on you. Due to the intensity of the Insanity workouts, I can't eat before hand (even an hour is not enough time for me). I work out around 4:30 in the morning on an empty stomach, and trying find a window premeal in the afternoon is too hard for me. The only prep I do is pound down a couple/three glasses of water before I go shut off the alarm. By the time you get through the warm ups...you are ready for the workout.
I agree with Maryann441 - Get a good recovery drink for at least the initial couple weeks if you have been inactive for a long time (you will be sore). If you can't afford the commercial drinks/powders, then a cup of plain old chocolate milk does a fine job for an immediate after workout drink. I haven't used the p90x drink, but have tried a product called Dark Matter (just about the same deal content wise) and that really makes a difference in fast recovery by reducing muscle soreness very well.
Good luck, and remember....if you can make it thru the warm up each day...you can make it through the workout. That first four minutes is the toughest (mentally).0 -
I tend to only use water as my recovery drink, unforgently being broke and unemployed with no support I am unable to afford any formulas energy bars, gym etc(Even getting my balance of food right on my non exsistant budget is hard) I was lucky enough that a friend lent me the DVDs .
I am used to being sore after workouts and I suspect that I will have a lot of pain to come through this 60 days but, as they say, no pain, no gain0 -

I was just telling you what I do. My point is to have a little bit of *something* before you start to help you get through it.0
