why do fat people call other fat people, fat?
its nothing to do with anyone on here, just in general everyday life. I was bullied all through high school from the age of 12 - 16 when i finished high school! I was called all sorts of names under the sun, thats the main reason for the weight i am today (well last year, i was 230lbs, im now 188lb), but thing i dont understand is the people in school who used to bully me were either the same size as me, or infact even bigger!! They would always walk past me in school and shout 'oiii fattty! im suprised ur not in the canteen scoffin the burgers!' yet there bloody big themselves!!! Does not make sense?! =/ and i wasnt even 'fat' in high school!! I started high school at a size 8 (UK), i was getting bullied day in day out because of the way i looked (i dont think im that ugly =/), my mum is a single parent to 2 kids with different dads - soo im sure u can imagine the verbal abuse i used to get?, everyone used to call me thick and stupid as i was in bottom set in maths and science and had to have extra help in lessons. I was in rough relationships from the age of 13 with lads 5-10 years older than me! I was taken advantaged of by them a bit too much
.. Weight started creeping on from the age of 13, i went from a size 8, from the age of 12 to a size 18 by the time i was 17!! But all the bullies were bigger than me, i dont understand why people have to be like that! Im a big person myself, and wud never call anyone else who is big 'a fattty' its like been a hypocrit isnt it?
Soo why do fat people call other fat people, fat??
Ps - sorrry to ramble on

Although I think bullying is wrong. If someone is fat, they're fat regardless of weather or not other people in the room are also fat.
It's like a red head calling another red head a ginger. He's a ginger. Even if there are 10 other gingers next to him.0 -
I am not sure. i guess it maybe builds their self esteem up to call others fat. maybe it makes them feel good. Not really sure but that is sooo very true of people.0

I know i hate it! Im a recovered anorexic and my mom makes fun of me for being fat all the time and shes 280 lbs! im only 161 lbs0

Good question!! I have to say that when I call someone fat it is meant that that person is big for no good reason and they wont do anything to sort themselves out except for complaining. In fact I think the only person I call fat is my Mum for all those reasons!
In the context that you are talking about I think it is just bullies trying to make themselves feel better by picking a weakness and using it regardless of whether it is their weakness to!0 -
But its just wrong tho =/ people cant go round commenting on other peoples sizes when the the same size or even bigger themselves! Yea it may build up there self esteem, but its doing any favours for the one getting attacked.. Im a witness of that. Everyday i used to dread going to school, but now im going to show those bullies what a strong person i have become!!0

There is really not a reason why fat people call other people fat, besides the fact that they can. They just do it because they either get a laugh or discomfort/embarrassment from the person they are talking about. Bullies generally like attention. If they don't get it, they will stop. They like to prey on weak people, so when they figure out your weakness they will continue. For you, its calling you fat, for someone else it may be something else. It's not that the person is really focused on you being fat, they are just trying to attack you in the way they know it will affect you the most.0

A lot of the time, bullies got bullied themselves. They might have been bullied at a younger age for being overweight, or they might get abuse at home about it all the time. The way they can gain back some control and show they're emotionally strong could be to do the same thing on others, especially those they think of as weak as easy targets
Doesn't make it right, but what goes through people's heads sometimes is messed up.
Be glad you are focusing on yourself now and getting healthier for your future. You were the better person to have gotten through all you did without doing the same thing to others
Sorry you had to go through what you did. High school sucksI had similar issues with it but not quite as bad, and not weight related. I'm the most confident I've ever been since I left tbh.

Usually people who feel the need to judge others or call people names are the ones who have their own self-esteem issues and are fearful of judgement themselves. It doesn't make sense but we are such flawed humans. It's like people who are fat but constantly compare themselves to others and think, "well at least I'm not as fat as HER!", because they feel crap about themselves. (same goes for other superficial things like looks, money, social status, etc.) It's frankly immature and you're right, it only serves the person doing the commenting/attacking and only hurts the other person. You would think that of all the people on earth, they would be the ones to understand, right?
Don't let the bullies get to you. Next time someone makes a snide remark, try holding up a mirror to them. Good luck!0 -
It's just how people call each other. What I mean is, if you're skinny people will call you skinny and if you're fat you can get fat remark. I got called fat so many times and all the crap words in the dictionary. I was even called a "Whopper". It never bothered me at all and ever since I lost weight people were confused on what to call me.
I can't be called fat because I'm not fat/obese . I can't be called skinny because I'm not skinny. I'm fatter than the "average" person but can run faster and run longer. So There's nothing else to call me but I accept still being called fat.0 -
Some combination of denial and elitism I suppose0
