This is continued from previous Walking Challenges, but its nice when each month has its own thread.

*** Anyone can join in at any time, the more the merrier, lets keep each other motivated****

Walking seems like the easiest way to start getting exercise, and even if you can't track distance (or don't want to), tracking time is good too...go for a 10 min walk after dinner, or up it to 30 minutes, you'll be amazed at the end of the month how much more exercise your getting in. :)

Check in everyday with how far you walked or how long, this is just to motivate us to get in at least some exercise everyday, and keep an eye on each other.

I want to try to keep this mostly to walking or walking type exercising. treadmills and ellipticals are A-OK.

Hope to see some more faces in this challenge, we'll start tracking September 1st!

I just wanted to post these links again for the new comers :) Each one of these links is a mile walk. (or 12 min). With a total of 5 miles.

So if you aren't able to make it outside, (Because its cold or don't have much time...12 minutes isn't asking a lot lol) then check them out to get in a quick walk.

I know that it is not all walking, but I'm going to count my c25k minutes. I started yesterday and walked/ran for 31:40.

  • Hi, newbie here.

I have been brisk walking (4-5km per hr) 2-3 times a day everyday for the last 6months, with a few exceptions like when I have very deep blisters, time ranges from about 60 - 120 min each day. I have to date lost 17kg, hoping for another 14ish.

    Yesterdays effort was 90mins total.

I am in. I have my personal goal to walk/run 100 miles this month. Last year my high month was 150 miles but fell off the wagon from Sept until the last few weeks of Dec. I need to get my mojo back and get moving again.

    Thanks heaps.

Is there a link or something to explain what the C25k thing is? I have seen people mention it but I don't know what it is.

After loosing the weight I am looking at starting some resistance training to gain more muscle & tone up, really need it after 4 kids. 2 weeks to go until we get our home gym thingy, lol.

WOW...Just checked our monthly distance after never giving it much thought & we are walking roughly 300km a month (180-190 miles). I really does add up.

If you google Couch to 5k you should be able to find it.

I'm going to join your group. I hate to exercise. I think it's mainly that I'm tired in the evening and it's cold outside. We recently got a dog and I know he'd love to go for walks in the morning. I need to get my butt up just a little earlier to allow for a morning walk. I know I'll feel better if I get it in early.
