My best birthday present

A friend of mine gave me the best birthday present yesterday ... a birthday photoshoot! The shoot itself was fun and she is super talented so we got a lot of good shots, but I think the thing that made it even more special is that it gave me myself back. I've been walking around for months still in the perception I still am the 285 lbs girl I started this journey as. It was the 1st time I was actually able to see I am a new me and I am not that fat girl anymore. I will never be her again! :) I am proud of myself!

    That was a really good present.
    The body image we carry in our head is tough to change.
    In some way - I never want to forget that perspective of me at 255# -- I can't forget that history, lest I repeat it.

    Awesome! I bet you felt beautiful!

    Our own perception is often overexaggerated. Sometimes my husband and I will see a big girl and he will ask me "Do you think you are bigger than her?" And my answer is almost always yes but he insists that I am thinking too harshly of myself. Maybe he is just trying to be nice, but based on other conversations, I dont see him doing that.
