What are you doing different?

I always think "new years resolutions" are silly, mostly because you don't need a new year to change your life. Anyway, this year I did make a resolution. I'm trying to be more aware of the processed foods, like the frozen meals I've eaten for the past IDK how long. I'm trying to stay more organized and replacing pre-made foods with fresh foods.
I'm also trying new machines at the gym. I haven't really changed my "work out" program. I don't tend to stray away from the treadmill. I usually just go, complain to myself (haha), run, then leave. Right now, I'm a hot mess trying to get use to the new machines and understanding what I actually need, but I think eventually i will get use to it.
What are you guys doing differently this year?

Not smoking. I don't know that it'll work this time either but I'll give it a shot.0

Dropping the alcohol. This has been my biggest challenge in 2011. It is the reason that I got to 223. Late night snacking along with a 6-pack destroyed my hard work for the day. I plan on drinking occasionally, but will not be keeping it in the home. I do in home workouts so I am working on getting my 2 teens involved also.0

I got my husband to join with me this time, and we threw out (or donated) everything in our cupboards, fridge and freezer that was not fresh, whole foods/Grains, low fat or diet friendly!
This will make it way easier since we are both on the same page now!0 -

You can do it! I smoked for 10 years and gave it up overnight and havent touched it since. That was 14 years ago. Its all a mind game. You will never regret dropping that habit.
I was a pack a day, (1.5 pack a day when I was drinking) guy. Think about your health and the $ you will save. Put that money towards some kick rear workout gear!0 -
I starting running last year so I'm going to continue with that, but I want to start cross training, lifting some weights that sort of thing. Burning more calories because you have muscles is a good thing! Oh and I'd love to be able and "drop and give someone 20!" (regular push ups, not the girl ones I'm currently doing)0

-I want to continue to monitor my carb/sugar intake
-I'm going to start lifting more weights.. I bought the book "New Rules Of Lifting For Women" and started yesterday.. Can't wait for the results
-I want to continue running since I've only recently just got back into it
I'm glad the holidays are over (no more temptation) and I'm ready to get back into action!0 -
I'm going to start walking outside. I live in Florida so it's kind of silly that I exercise indoors , plus I think the change in terrain will possibly be beneficial. Get some new muscles working, maybe.0

I'm focusing more on lifting rather than cardio. I want to build more lean muscle mass so I can keep up with the guys. I don't want to be viewed as the wimpy little girl who can't defend herself. I want people to know I am strong, fit, and independent.
Also trying to prove the point that when women strength train they won't turn into butch monsters, but will in fact reach the body they are so desperately trying to attain.0 -
trying to stay away from candY and soda! i love candy.. lol sprees, orange slices, starburst. *sigh*
& watching my sodium intake! it's so easy to go over, but i've done great so far this year! lol0 -
I am laying off the Sangria a lot. Between the 3 huge glasses I was consuming 3 times a week, topped with junk food, I packed on an extra 30 pounds to my already very overweight frame. I also have given up drinking pop, other than the occassional Coke Zero. I am having everything in moderation instead of saying I will never ever have something again because that is not realistic.0

If you replace "beer" for Sangria in your comment, we had the same exact experience! I put on probably 20 lbs from "football brew" and late night snacking.0 -

Yeah, it sucks. It just put me that much farther into the hole that I need to dig myself out of.0 -
Splitting my workouts into two-a-days
Removing grains (at least for now, until I notice a difference; I don't believe in low carb whatsoever, but I always feel a bit ill and sick after eating bran/whole wheat/etc)
Increasing protein intake
Lifting as heavy as possible0 -

I don't make new year's resolutions, either...
But I'm planning to change up my routine a bit. I started the last week of December by trying out new classes at the gym. So, my goal is to try something new at least once a month. I can rotate it around at some point...but I'm just trying to add to my regular routines of elliptical and kettlebell.0
