Where do you usually work out?

I joined Planet Fitness about a month ago. The major slogan is their "no judgement zone". And I really do feel that it is what they claim. You walk in and everyone is greeted the same way. You look around and there's all shapes and sizes and ages working out. It's always really clean and all their equipment is fantastic. Best part is, it's only $10 a month for their basic membership. I actually get a free membership at my school's gym with tuition. But, hahahahaha, talk about a judgement zone. All the little gym bunnies bouncing away on the ellipticals and the weight lunkers grunting and groaning and strutting. Dear Lord, the strutting. I hate going there. I feel so judged. And why should I be for wanting to get healthy and in shape. I've never understood that. Anyways I'm off topic.

I love my new gym and the staff there. And it's also 3 blocks from my house and opened 24/7. Perfect.

I work in a building that has a great fitness center, so Itry to use that when I can. They have strength, cardio machines, and a wide assortment of exercise classes. I try to go to Spin at least once a week, and run a couple of other days. I also walk and run on my own at home when I can get away. I have a dog that I take on walks. I used to run anywhere from 7-10 miles 3-4 x a week, but have slipped away from that. Hopefully i can get it back up to speed soon, no pun intended.....

I love Planet Fitness! I have the black card membership simply for when I travel. There is one right down the street from my mom's house in VA, and I live in LA, so it's nice. I also feel like it is a judgement free zone.

The lunk alarm is ridiculous. It's great, but they could make it a little less annoying.

I do a few things. I do a Boot Camp here in San Diego 1 or 2 times a week. I also just hired a personal trainer for the gym that is kicking my butt!!

Mine doesn't use their lunk alarm. At least I've never been there when they do

I got a good deal today on a membership at Fitness 19. Sadly not a 24/7 gym, but I can cope. Very well ventilated, lots of workout equipment in pristine condition with staff that wipes it down regularly for us. No classes, but I don't need those. I just step on people and lumber around when I try to work out with others, anyway.

First thing I noticed when I walked in is that I was by far the fattest person there. I mean, by far. But all I got were curious looks because I was new. No snickering, no evil eye.

So I went ahead and started working out. I've worked out before, although it's been awhile, so I figured all the equipment out on my own and didn't break anything. I'm pretty happy with my decision, especially since the other gyms around here cost two to three times more a month.

i just workout in the gym. on the cardio machines, in the weights section, in the boxing session, in the spin room (that is one of my favourites when there is no class on, just cranking away in there on my own in the dark room), in the classes, wherever i feel like it.

i refuse to be intimidated by anyone. i know i'm not the skinniest and most beautiful, but i pay my dues, i can use what i damn well like, and i don't care who's looking at me and judging me.

Sounds a lot like my gym called Club Fitness, probably same owners. I also love to run outdoors but need to get my strengthening in somewhere. Much rather be running though, and it is soooo crowded right now withe the January rush after the holidays LOL!

Darn right! And if someone doesn't like it, wait until they go out to the parking lot, knock them down, and sit on them until they either apologize or their ribs cave in. That's my plan, anyway!
  • I work out at the Penfield Fitness and Racquet Club. Because it's not a large gym such as the Y it has a really community like feel to it. Everyone there is VERY nice and when I first joined all the employees there were extremely helpful. Now, I am proud to call myself an employee there and am always happy to talk to other members. Plus I get a free membership (YAY).

I lost 60 lbs 6 years ago and have put 20 back on. I wanted to duplicate what was successful then, which was lunch time workouts and tracking my calories. All the gyms within walking distance of work were $100+ a month! Not in the budget. I was able to gain access to our bldgs basement which used to have a gym and still has a working locker room. The old weight room has mirrors and a padded floor. At lunch I head down with my kettlebells and videos on my iPad, and go at it. Best of all, it's freeeeee and there are no annoying new people at the gym.

Btw, Lauren Brooks kettlebell workouts are great!
