Flaxseed Oil - Thoughts?

I've read a bit about the benefits of taking flaxseed oil, or a flaxseed supplement. Anyone tried it? Thoughts?

    I have just read a book called 'The Healthy Skin Diet' by Karen Fischer. She promotes using flaxseed because it is alkalising to the body. An alkaline diet is important as it helps prevent psoriasis, rosacea, acne, cellulite and even pms.

    Other alkalising ingredients include chlorophyll,dandelion, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, leafy greens, almonds etc.

    I have tried to incorporate these into my meals but am not following her diet 100% as for me it's a bit unrealistic. I have been using cold pressed flaxseed oil instead of olive oil. It is a really mild, unoffensive flavour. But at the end of the day it is still an oil so quite high calories.
