Not getting enough potassium

Since logging in daily I have noticed that I never get enough potassium. I do take a multi vitamin daily but it doesn't include potassium. What are your favorite foods that are high in potassium?

You'd be surprised actually. There's no current minimum on the amount of potassium on your diet according to the USDA, so a number of foods that contain it simply don't list it in the nutritionals. Bananas, potatoes, and fish are all great sources.
Edit: Correction according to http://www.health.gov/dietaryguidelines/dga2005/document/html/chapter8.htm potassium is at 4700mg/day, and 3500 according to the FDA (http://www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceComplianceRegulatoryInformation/GuidanceDocuments/FoodLabelingNutrition/FoodLabelingGuide/ucm064894.htm). Not sure why it doesn't have to be labelled then, its considered a voluntary thing to list (http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/cfr_2004/aprqtr/21cfr101.9.htm).0 -
I also have the same problem. I did a google search to find foods that are potassium rich, however most are high in calories. I was hoping to find some ideas here on MFP!
AND... as the person previous to my post pointed out, it's not mandated that it has to be in the nutrition label... so it makes it even harder!0 -
If you're relying on the potassium levels listed in the MFP database, you might be getting more than you realize. Lots of items I've run across that are high in potassium don't have any listed in the database entry.
