If you can get away from the food. Go outside for a walk or a bike ride. Get your hands something to do besides put food in your mouth. Try knittitng or crocheting. Sometimes even reading a book can get you mind off putting food into your body.

This is one of my biggest problems. Sometimes I eat for reasons other then hunger. Finding better option munchies helps when I feel like munching (sugar free jello, flavored rice cakes, light ice cream) maybe allowing some room in your daily calories for it. Some of the suggestions in the previous post works too. Most important is finding which ones work for you. Try them all. And don't beat yourself up for the occasional bad day. We all have them.
    Good Luck,,

I try to make sure that my breakfasts and lunches are substantial and filling and that has helped me with the ravenous-ness that usually attacks me from 2pm until bedtime. I also go to the gym before I go home which helps with the evening munchies. I try to keep myself busy because I am definitely a boredom/emotional eater.

Stick with it, kiddo, you are not alone!

I was the same but I noticed that if I had a yogurt for my afternoon snack it actually filled me up, try that.

I think a big key to stop snacking is to make sure you are satisfied. This comes from eating certain kinds of food that will fuel you. Whole grains, lean protein, fruit and veggies, etc. Women need at least 25 g of Fiber during the day and it definitely keeps you feeling satisfied longer.

Drinking plenty of water can help too. Often when we think we're hungry, it is more thirst..and drinking some water or maybe a cup of herbal tea can ease the hunger.

Also, it can just take your body awhile to adjust to eating less. An adult sized stomach is about the size of a closed adult fist. When you think of that, you realize just how much food people are eating, which stretches the stomach out to hold more and also feel emptier when it's not filled. If you eat less and allow your stomach to hold a more normal amount, you will not need so much to feel satisfied.

    Good luck!!

Hi, Sharnie! I like to snack, too. I have found that if I just com ehere to the forums, that keeps me distracted, hehe! I have also found that when I eat fuller breakfasts and lunches, that seems to help. Planning my whole day of food also helps, b/c I can see the snacks coming, lol!

Nuts and fruits are very good for you, but nuts can rack up the calories quick and you have to still watch the sugar content on the fruit. My snacks now are veggies, edamame, popcorn, Popchips (if you can find them). Good luck!
