Intermittent Fasting? sorry if i spelled it wrong!

I have been reading a lot about this lately and have been wanting to give it a try. I was wondering if someone can explain in detail what to do? I understand it as 16 off 8 on. So stop at 8 pm and eat at 12 noon? I know there are other types but this sounds doable. I like cardio cannot go to a gym right now so what kind of stength training can I do at home? I'm looking to tone up. I heard intense cardio was not right for this kind of fasting so my plan woukd be cardio every other day with strength training in between. Any advice/info would be helpful!
