Conflictin Protein Amounts

The My fitness Pal website has my goal at only 60g per day. I figured this was low, since I am always over quite a bit. My personal trainer told me to look online for a protein calculator. The one I did asked for age, height, weight, gender, activity, and fitness goal...and it estimated that I should be getting 172g of protein per day. Obviously this is a HUGE difference for what each sight suggests. Which is more accurate? Thank you in advance for your help

For you I would suggest take your lean muscle body weight *not total body weight*(google for calculators) and take that amount in grams of protein and then custom make that macro in mfp and tada your all set.0

I noticed that too. I was surprised since all of my protein throughout the day is derived from plant protein. I only have lean protein with my evening meal.0

I'm always over too! I'd like to see what everyone says.0

I am always way over. I always am in the negative with this and our bodies I thought needed a lot of good protein. I ignore it and basically try to stay under my calorie goal which is sometimes hard enough but yes I am also curious :huh:0

Even with a lean body mass calculation the protein allowance given by mfp would be low for me, so I'm ignoring it. The requirement is 0.8g protein per kg body weight each day for cell maintenance, more if you're exercising!0

Ya but thats for you and your stats not the ops. I mean if we are going to slightly hyjack this thread then I eat a little over 1g per lb as I am into gaining lean muscle mass. So its different for everyone. For ops needs since she always goes over anyways and exercises I am assuming shes healthy so she can meet the requirments in the middle of mfp and 1 gram per lb of total body weight and just take her lean mass lbs in protein grams, so thats why I suggested that.0 -

Ah, you'll notice I've used the words me and I'm. Simply saying what I'm doing given the conflict, sheesh!0
