Hi there, I'm back on MFP after having a baby 7 weeks ago. I have 50lbs to lose! I am feeling a little discouraged already like I take one step forward then 2 steps back (ie. going on the stationary bike last night then sitting on the couch eating ice cream tonight). Well, off to bed now, hoping tomorrow brings renewed motivation! I would love love love some new friends, maybe even some other nursing moms?? : )

  • hey hey! congratulations! i think it's difficult (but admirable) to want to lose the weight while nursing - so hard to control the calorie count, and to know what you need. As well as being continually ravenous beyond rational thought...
I think you NEED a ton of ice cream, myself. :)
    go easy on yourself, anyway.

I might not be motivational - I had 20 lbs to lose and 10 melted away quick, but 10 just wouldn't go away until months after i stopped nursing and started working out. But I'd sure be sympathetic on the steps back :)

YES! I get ravenous....about the ice cream and/or trail mix! It sounds like that is normal when you're nursing?! Good to know... I thought I was crazy! Thanks! : )
  • for sure! did you not nurse with #1?
I think it's impossible to resist those cravings. I told myself it was good for me - part of listening to your body, right? I NEED 2 litres of water/juice right now.. and I need at least 2 or 3 cereal bars.... :)

I remember trying to go to the drugstore for an hour's outing and not making it, needing to buy a litre of tomato juice and a box of bars and eat immediately or i wouldn't have been able to take it.

.. and I allowed myself about 600 calories for breast feeding, just by seeing what I was eating for a couple of weeks on here, noticing I wasn't gaining, so figuring that amount of 'extra' was what I was burning with nursing.
