Hi everyone,
I did my first day of the 30 day shred yesterday and my legs and tummy are v.sore today!!! I was wondering if you could help me with a few concerns. I am worried that this is a bit like a fad diet, I am sure I will lose weight if I stick to this and do the 30 days and I have seen the results in before and after pics of lots of people on the site which is so inspiring but what happens when you stop? For me on this journey I have discovered that walking is a great form of exercise and something that I hope to do everyday for the rest of my life. I have been on MFP since Oct and have lost some weight but Iam definitely at the beginning of my journey but I have realised that for this to work it has to be a life style change. So anyway after Xmas I have but on a bit of weight and now starting this 30ds seems like a good way to shift those few pounds I have put on but once the 30 days are over and I just go back walking will I put on weight again like I have done with all those diets that i tried and failed at! Do I have to keep on increasing the intensity of the exercises I do to keep the weight coming off? Would be great to get some advice and to hear from anyone who has completed the 30ds a while ago and have continued to lose weight or keep of the weight they have lost.
Thanks lovely people

Hey hun, to be honest i didn't lose any weight when i did the 30DS but i lost inches and toned up a lot, i even saw results after 10 days. I didn't gain weight after i finished it in fact i've gone on to lose over stone. I did the 30DS as i like to change up my routines quite a bit so i stay interested, i wouldn't say 30DS is a fad just a workout dvd. I wouldn't say there would be reason to gain weight when you finish it, none of my mfp friends have gained afterwards that i know of but initially be prepared for the scales to go up as you'll prob find your muscles retaining water. Good luck with it hun! Xxx

I did the 30ds back in the summer and noticed that I was toning up immediately. I was also doing some bike riding and swimming in addition to the video and was very happy with the changes I saw.

I actually started the video again on December 31st, today will be Day 6 on Level 1 for me, I am also walking on the treadmill everyday after I finish the workout video.
I think the key is to just continue working out and you shouldn't gain weight.

After I finish this round of 30ds I will probably move on to one of Bob Harper's DVD's because I get bored easily and cannot keep up the same routine for long periods of time.

I recommed keeping a record of measurements now and at the end of each level. This will inspire you all the more to keep going with something at the end of the 30 days.

    Hi Mamalula,
First of all congratulations on starting the 30 Day Shred workout. I was skeptical in the beginning, and I never believed that 25 minutes of any sort of exercise can change my shape. I was so wrong!! The changes that I noticed in one month of working out with Jillian Michaels are incredible! I was able to shrink my post baby belly and lose inches from my mid section! something that I couldnt do for 8 years despite the fact that I have been on a diet and almost daily cardio exercise plan for the past 2 years. The changes you will notice are addictive! Once you complete the DVD, I am pretty sure you would want to continue with the strength training part of working out and other Jillian Michaels' DVDs!
My husband was right after all! he always told me to decrease my cardio and increase my strength training sessions to see changes in my body, but I resisted strength training for so long...After using weights with Jillian Michaels, I realized that you do need to use weights to shrink!

So go ahead and good luck!! you will be amazed with the results! :)

I agree that I have not lost weight with the 30DS but have toned up. I do straight cardio to actually loose weight. The good part of this is that you can do it then stop change it up and come back at a later time. For example 30DS for a month then another program for awhile. I would recommend to keep your cardio on to keep your body loosing weight. I was doing straight toning for awhile and the scale did not move at all. But I was firming like crazy. Now I am adding cardio back in I believe I am starting to drop again. Toning is good to help your skin tighten up as you weight so that you do not have as much access skin at the end of the process.

The 30 day shred, for me, made me enjoy exercise and actually helped me get a little stronger so I could keep up with the classes at the gym when I joined.
