I noticed the scales at my gym and the scale at my home are always different. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a good scale that is accurate??

I will be interested in seeing others responses - but my thought has always been that as long as you weigh yourself on the same scale you will know roughly where you stand and how much you have gained/lost. The gym normally as decent scales, so I would trust that one, but if the one at home is easier to get to (obviously) - then just use that one consistently!
  • Are they digital or mechanical? I have some digital scales that always give different readings even though they are on a flat surface (I weigh myself a few times then go with the average number). Doctors surgeries and hospitals in the UK (I'm not sure where you are) often have scales in the waiting rooms that are pretty accurate.

I have two digital scales at my home, they are about the same age. One of them is a 'Biggest Loser' scale that my aunt got with a kit.
The Biggest Loser scale always averages 2 lbs more than the other, so when I use it, I subtract 2 lbs. Well today, I worked out, weighed myself on the second one (that's more accurate) before and after. After I finished working out it said I GAINED 4 lbs.
    Anybody have any ideas?

I usually go with the one at my gym - you can usually get a good picture of where you are at based on where you started and how much you are loosing each week.

Weigh yourself at the same time each day. Your weight can easily fluctuate. Just do it in the morning or the evening, and track from there. I find that my weight goes up 1 pound after being awake for an hour and having some water. So I hope on the scale when I get out of bed, and then continue on with my day.

If I don't do it first thing in the AM, I wait until the next day.

It's expensive - but went for the sure thing - a body scan. It gave me accurate (better than hydro testing) information on my body fat, lean mass and more. While I'll be checking the scale the ultimate proof will be in 87 days when I go for a second body scan.
