How much do you have to lose and why did you choose that amount?

Dont worry what MFP predicts you to lose, just do what you can and enjoy the results

I have about 50 more pounds to lose, already lost 45lbs. I chose it because when I had it set to 1lb a week I was only given 1300 calories to eat. It was getting too hard for me to stay under that. I am now given 1600 calories and that is MUCH better for me. And the strange thing is I find myself staying closer to 1300 than 1600 now that I changed it! LOL I just like seeing that I still do have 300 more calories for the day...even if I'm not going to use them. I'm just strange like that.

I also don't really care to lose the weight fast. I just want it to stay off forever!

I have mine set to .5 pound because I only had 12 pounds to lose when I started. 1 pound a week only gave me 1200 calories, and I was hungry all the time and not losing weight.

Only have 4 pounds left to lose!
I did it since I'm so close to the end, I'm getting used to higher amount of calories for when I get to maintain next! :)

Because I don't have very much more to go so I wanted to up my calories a bit.
  • I'm set to lose 1lb per week, but I've been losing 1.2lb per week so I'm SUPER happy about that.

I set mine at 1/2 lb for much the same reason as Sarah........because at 1 lb, my calorie count would go to 1200, and NO WAY can I do that (nor do I want to.)

I have progressively lost at LEAST that 1/2 lb, and that's fine with me. My total weight loss goal was about 40 lbs.......I've lost 20 of that, so in 5 months, I'm halfway there. This is REALLLLY working for me.......it's not hard, I don't stress about it, I eat what I want (within reason), and I'm moving more.

I want this to be a lifetime change.........so need to deal in reality :glasses:

I'll probably lose about 8 more lbs or so... not exactly sure yet. I didn't choose the 1/2 lb so much as I chose 1400 calories per day, this was based on a few different websites and calculators... seemed to be the magic number for me.

I am set at that amount mostly because now that I've met my original goal I can't decide if I want to lose more or not. Which really just means that I would like to get a little smaller, but I don't want to work any harder at it. :ohwell:

Mine is set to lose 2lbs a week, and I'm losing between 1.8-2.2lbs a week.

With that setting, I am on 1200 cals a day, but I exercise a fair bit and eat back most of my exercise cals so I'm rarely hungry. The only tough days are my rest days when I have to stick to 1200 total cals.

ETA: oops, sorry I thought the topic was 1 to 2lbs a week, not 0.5lbs.
