Struggling with exercise ... support and encouragement much

Hi all,

I'm new to this site and have been looking to lose weight and become more toned for quite a while now. I've kind of half heartedly comminted before always finding an excuse or three not to commit ... well that said I am now mentally ready to make the change.

Over the past week I have been trying many different exercises that are aimed at toning but I am really struggling with my coordination and balance, Is this purely to do with my level of fitness or my lack of knowledge of the 'correct' way of doing them? Are there any beginner exercises that are recommended or is it just a case of perservance?

I am 31, nearly 11 stone with a BMI of 24.5. I am aware that this is within the normal range but I have gained nearly two stone in the last 18 months and it is now beginning to affect my confidence. Any advice, support or encouragement will be much appreciated x
