A friend told me about the android app for myfitnesspal when we were at the movies last night. I downloaded it and started using it today and I was shocked at how I managed to exceed my calorie intake with just eating one meal. I want to lose 5 lbs in the next 3-4 weeks. And then another 5lbs after that. I want to set mini-goals instead of one big whopping goal, so it won't be so intimidating? (If that's even the right word! lol)....

I'm back home in the South visiting family, but heading back to the West Coast soon. It's been difficult b/c I recently lost my job and now heading back West to look for a new job, so not only am I tight on money, wallowing in lots of fattening comfort food, I'm also trying not to freak out or let things get over my head. So I am taking it one day at a time, working toward my goals, and hopefully lose some weight in the process...trying to think of free ways to exercise like running in the park, swimming at friend's or community pools, or using stuff around the house to get weight lifting in is very interesting indeed :-)

Good luck to everyone's endeavors! Glad I found this place!

Welcome and Good luck to you. I have started back at this again today. I too am surprised how quickly it can all add up. I have discovered over the years that I need more protein and fruits and veggies and less carbs in order to keep weight off so I am back to that. Happy New Year.

Hello and Welcome!! I love how you are choosing to do small goals instead of big goals. I see people setting large goals and then getting so disappointed when they don't meet that goal that they stop trying all together.
  • Welcome! If you're tight on money, running, yoga, and youtube videos are the way to go! You usually don't need weights and it's free! Also hulu.com has some free exercise videos! Good luck to you!
  • Yeah. I was excited about the app calculating if I kept up "A" at such and such a level or rate then I would lose "X" amount of weight by Feb. etc....so I decided....hey! I want to focus on 5 lbs right now. It makes it easier!
