I'm hoping to lose 2 stone by September... And I do atleast 30 mins on the wii fit every night and go to the gym once or twice a week... I'm hoping to start going to Pilates once a week, does anyone know if pilates helps you lose weight or is it more of a relaxing exercise to relax your mind? Any hints or tips i would be very greatful

the gym will help more in burning calories due to the high cardiovascular exercise, Pilates helps build core muscles so will help in toning and relaxation.0

It also depends of what type of pilates you are doing. Personally, each class I attend varies, in which sometimes is more relaxation and other is hardcore abdominal work. Make sure your class is only small if your just beginning , because your technique will determine how sucessful the workout will be. I found the longer I was at pilates with one on one corrections the harder it got! Massive Pilates fan! Have fun!0

I do pilates 2x week and it dropped me a pants size without losing any weight. It will tighten you up and hit your abs and back muscles hard. I do a mat class and a tower (machine) class. Like strength training of any sort, it isn't a calorie torcher but you will get much stronger (I have arm muscles now!) and better posture. I recommend not doing it at home until you know proper form, as you only really get the true core workout benefits if you do the moves correctly. Feel free to message me if you have any questions, as I've become quite the pilates fan!0
