Hi,
I'm a newbie to this site and am not really sure how their forums work. But introducing myself sounded like a good start!

I turned 40 last year and had a pretty rough year last year. I've been active for many years and have lost 20 pounds over the last many years, slowly getting closer and closer to my goal weight. But then I hit some major hurdle last year - developed asthma, hurt my lower back, and was a stay at home mom to a toddler in his terrible 2s. I managed to mostly stay at the same weight, but couldn't seem to lose any. I still have 20 more pounds to go to my goal weight. Now, though, my back is almost healed and I'm slowly learning to take care of my asthma, and my son is in a mom's day out program. So things are looking better for 2012 and I feel like I have the focus and energy again to move toward my goal weight. My other big goal (that I've had for 2 years, but couldn't seem to reach) is to run my first 50k. I'm hopeful that training will go well this year and I'll be able to reach that goal next Jan.

Any guidance on how to find support and friends on this site? I'd like to check in most days and give and receive support!
Thanks!

I am seeking the same - please feel free to add me as a friend - it helps to see progress that others are making simply by completing their logs and what exercise they are completing.

a 50K?!? Wow! That's going to be awesome! I joke that I only run 60 feet at a time (the distance from home plate to 1st base:laugh: ), if I'm lucky, 120 feet!
Feel free to add me if you like!

hey everyone! i started using mfp as a way to guide my weight loss (as well as a return to training)
basically just start recording EVERYTHING you put in your mouth. i didnt really plan on eating healthier persay, just less. but once i saw how bad some foods were i started eating healthier so i could eat more :)
as far as forums go i just started that as i had been using my phone all summer. really my only advice for the forums is to read what you are responding to, people can get cranky on here sometimes, just ignore it :p
