Ok...so here's where I say hello, right? :)

Alright, my situation is a little different, but I'm on a military base in Afghanistan. I work 12 hours a day and working out keeps me sane. Most people aren't going to believe me when I say this, but my goal right now is to get down to 300lbs. When i was in peak physical condition in the Marine Corps I weighed 290....so just know that my goal is not crayzy.

So I started out a few months ago by going to the gym to do 10 min of cardio and then doing one half of a full body workout routine....did the other half the following day. I figured that would be my two week program and I would gradually increase as I perfected my schedule and got accustomed to going to the gym again. I started at 325 and am now at 315.

I've modified my workout routine into a three day cycle. Day one I do one hour on the elliptical...day two I do 45 min on the elliptical and the lighter half of my full body workout and day three is 30 min on the elliptical followed by the heavier portion of the weight training.

I've set my weight loss goal at 1.5 lbs loss per week and struggled the first two days, but now I've gotten it reined in. With the exception of the first week I've hit my goal every day ...actually been under most days. I'm seeing solid progress and enjoying watching the improvement in the numbers. Having only really been doing this consistently for about 25 days I don't expect to see radical improvements immediately, but I will.

Anywhoo, that's my situation and what I'm doing to improve my health. Hope to be back in the States sometime this year and I think it will be tougher to maintain once I get home, but I am confident that I'll stick with it. I guess I thought it best to introduce myself is I really don't have much in the way of social context here or a support network, so wanted to plug in somewhere.

  • Well I personally think your doing great!! Keep up the great work! The pounds didn't appear over night, so they aren't going to disappear over night. That's the way I'm going with my weight loss also! Add me! I will help you on your journey! BTW Thank you for serving our country! We appreciate you!
