Does anyone know of how much exercise one must do to lose weight on a steady basis, but not too fast? And what type of exercises if you really super hate the gym?

Lift 3 times a week and cardio 3 times a week.
Both shouldnt be any more than 30 mins.
Take 2 days off every week so you can rest.0 -
^ how about if i only have 10-15 mins to spare in a day0

barely worth changing into gym clothes for 15 minutes workout. if i go to the gym, i never leave before i've done an hour, 45 minutes absolute minimum. and i wouldn't think of doing it less than 3 days a week (i usually do 5 days a week, 4 at a pinch).
if you hate it that much, try incorporating exercise into your day. walk or ride to school / work / shops / friends place or whatever.
get off the bus a few stops earlier, or park further away and walk.
go for a walk at lunch time. if you can put a 15 minute walk in before work, after work, and at lunch, thats 45 minutes. and then
crunches and squats while you watch tv... when i watch biggest loser, i always do as many crunches or squats or lunges or something in the ad breaks as i can. it's better than nothing.0 -
I started with the elliptical and that worked out nicely for me for awhile. The trick is to mix it up so you're not doing the same thing all the time. Once you get comfortable doing 30 minutes, increase your level or resistance... or try going faster instead. Go backwards. Do intervals - go super fast for 30 seconds, then go back to normal pace, and repeat.
I personally love running intervals and the cross ramp (like a better elliptical). I do that, plus the high bicycle at the gym, and do all my strenght workouts at home.0 -
The only time i can think of is right after getting out of bed and before hitting the shower.
I just finished my residency. I used to wake up 4-5 in the morning so i can be inside the operating room by 6am. Im lucky if cases can end before 6pm. (Unlucky if even pass 12am) but then again i have to do rounds. The rest of my waking time is dedicated to
My social and family life. I dont think i can do gym ( i wish i can)
Do you think high impact aero with weights for 15 mins will be okay? I am trying some
Vigorous jump and jacks0 -

I notice that most women seem to be afraid of strength training - they tend to only do cardio - but strength training is very important because when you lose weight, you lose a lot of muscle! include strength training in your workouts at least 2-3 times a week.... still do cardio.... and take a day or two off a week to rest (recovery is just as important as working out)... (i've been doing strength a lot and just as much cardio - lost 98lbs in 370 days!)0

does your hospital have a fitness facitlity? some do. can you go there during your "break". If you have 15 min, do weight circuit or body weight moves, if you get a second 15 do some high intensity cardio moves. you will have to make time, if it is important to you, and you might need to make it a priority on sat/sunday when not working or what ever days you have off, and then you can not do it 2 other days in the week.0

I do a mix of Zumba and Yoga at a studio and then I throw in some Wii Zumba and other games. I also have work out dvds, yoga, cardio/weights, and exercise ball I mix in on days that I don't go to classes.
I don't belong to an actual gym.0
