    Protein is good!
I always try to go over on protein and sometimes fiber :)

depends on what our macros are set too, MFP I think sets our protein way low if we are seriously working out and it sounds like you are, so keep doing what you are doing. Read up a bit on one of the good websites (not weight lifting ones) and reset your macros to a reasonable about of protein for your size.

Absolutely not! I'd much rather go over my protein intake than carbs/fats. It's what helps build that muscle...

Going over on protein won't hurt you at all, and in fact is probably a good thing. What is your daily protein goal?

Being under on cals might not be so good though. Your goal is 1290, and you burn 500 each day... does that mean your net cals are generally around 800? That's pretty low. Without knowing the breakdown of those cals, I've got to think it's going to be hard for you to see a healthy weight loss.

Excess protein is only a problem if you have liver or kidney disease.

And for those of you who are always over on protein... MFP's protein goals are REALLY low by default. If you are surpassing the default protein target, it's possible that you still aren't getting enough.

Protein is good. I shoot for eating 100 over my protein default and 100 less on my carbs. That still doesn't get me to 1 gm protein per pound lean body weight.

If you're getting 1 gram per KG of lean bodyweight (or 1 gram per 2.2 lbs) you are in good shape. Might want more if strength training.

Depending on your goals that might not be a bad thing. I reset my protein intake, because MFP recommendations are a bit low for my needs.

What is your diet like? Mine is lacking in proteins, so much so, that I just purchased a plant-based protein powder to get my numbers closer to the norm. This lack of proteins in my diet also explains why I looked so gaunt the last time I lost a lot of weight. Do not want that to happen again because people that I haven't seen in awhile thought I was sick. Any advice, for anyone, would be welcomed.

Protein is good! I upped my goal to 35%, because MFP settings are too low...and I still go over sometimes. I'd rather go over on protein than carbs or fats :)

ditto... I am over on my protein every day and am losing consistently
  • I'm also way over on my protien every day, but I workout really hard, so I feel I need it.

Hi there! I'm always over on protein as well. I would much rather see that then over on calories/fat/carbs. LOL

I agree with the others. I lose weight if i am over on protein but low in cals. Plus, i am not as hungry and have less stomach fat and general bloating

Can't say I have ever not gone over on protein on this site? Every day for sure.
