I have just below shoulder length hair. I like to tuck my hair behind my ears. My hair is thick AND I have a lot of it. I'm a busy mum who just likes to brush & go - no maintenance. My hair colour is mousy-brown. Suggest me a hairstyle. :D
Here's the most recent photo of my face (doesn't show my hair)

Well, I have my hair cut really short. In fact, I actually do it myself.....No combing or brushing and it is just so cool......

The problem with really short hair for is is that the volume jsut makes it puff out once it's past a certain length.. and I worry that too short gives nothing to frame my round-fat face shape. :/

Have you been to a hairdresser and asked them what would suit you?.....

Yeah, just thought it'd be fun to get other options too.

Down to shoulder length, like not too short, so ends should touch shoulders are longer would look good, with lots of layers :)

I reckon a chin-length choppy bob would suit you.

    An asymetrical bob :)
I had mine very long on one side and short on the other but i have fine hair.
Also where you hair ends is a point where peoples focus is draw to - so if you have hair the stops before your shoulders it can make you look thinner.

I dont know if that holds true for very skinny girls as well, but its certainly the advice i was given by my mums Style Consultant LOL (lame - i know - but shes lovely, and, i guess in my experience, right)

I don't know if i'm stylish enough for an asymmetrical bob! I could try it though, I guess! My hair isn't straight, it's wavy.

Am I a difficult customer or what?

I do love Drew Barrymore's hair in the pic you posted.

I always had shirt hair but it grows back fast and is thick as well.
My hairdresser always tells me that people would kill to have my hair lol I always feel like a sheared sheep after my hair got cut.

I am having an undercut for quite a while now and I love it. If I feel like I can style it a mohawk, if I dont feel like I just leave it be and it looks decent as well.

If you have the courage, maybe try it lol

Undercuts and Asymmetrical bobs might have to be placed in the "when I'm skinny" book :D I love your hair (What I can see of it) Pinky!

I second the *slightly* asymmetrical bob. With a lot of thinning with the texturising shears. I had a small angle done, nothing too drastic, and I LOVED it. It was short enough in the back to not be annoying, but still long enough to put behind my ears, or up in a clip, and not look ridic. My hair chick's sister actually had the cut I wanted, when I went in, and was like THAT! YES! lol

I'll have to find the picture of it for you. :)

let's see if this works - ah well don't know how to do it. lol here: http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/36950_1498281809760_1015580033_31426252_3918727_n.jpg

Aww, thanks Nikki. That was one of those I don't feel like a mohawk today days lol
and thats why I actually like the cut that much because it still looks decent without beeing styled, and I dont get that "hair too heavy to style" feeling that soon with less hair under the top hair lol

the bob idea - the pics you posted look good too

<-- See my profile pic. I wanted similar. I had hair down to my tush and had enough of styling and brushing it day after day. I have SUPER THICK hair, too. They had to use thinning shears all over to make it sit properly. Now it's low maintenance, just shower and air dry.
  • Hey,

I'm a hairdresser so hopefully I may be able to help you out a little =)

Long hair is gorgeous for round faces such as yourself as it lengthens the face. The best cut for a round face will fall a few inches below the chin and longer.

Try and stay away from short layers, this will add body and make a round face appear rounder which you way not want???

Shorter hairstyles can be a little bit of a toughy for people with a rounder shaped face. Many short hairstyles will add width which is also something you may not want.... However I w2ould recommend if you do opt for the shorter look you have layers cut in you never want a short style to fall flat at the sides.

Also if you opt for the longer styles, curls will look beautiful for a round shape, but make sure the curls start below the lips as you do not want to add any width...

I hope I have been help to you...

Just ask if you have any questions

    Amy
    =) xx

I didn't look at your username before reading this, clicked the pic and went "Hey they looks like..." then actually got a fright when I flicked back and saw your name. I like that cut :D

Mkserpa - yours is nice too, is it shorter at the front then longer to the back? It's kind of my length at the moment, but tidier and a bit shorter at the front :)

Amy - thanks a lot! I prefer short-medium hair to long hair, but I also understand what you're saying.. Would you recommend either of the bobs I've put pikkies up of? (You can totally say no, I won't be offended)

    Find a good Hair Stylist!

They'll take in the texture/color/weight of your hair, take your needs (like how much time you want to spend, and your life style) and your requirements (what you like, don't like or find frustrating), and then they will make a recomendation for a hair style that would suit you, as well as work for you.

Even if the Stylist is expensive, you can have them cut your hair once initially, and then go back to your regular stylist to maintain.

    Good luck!

I agree! My hair is one of my features that even with being overweight that I feel very proud of and I think is very pretty. So finding a great stylist that will listen to you and offer a come back if u don't like it service is essential!
I disagree with anything drastic. I had waist length hair and chopped it off to a pixie cut and cried for days and swore I'd never do it again! Start small, I think that drew Barrymore bob looks so cute!
Also knowing what hair product to use after you get home to keep your style looking good everyday is important!

Oh no, going short isn't going to be drastic, thanks for the concern... I actually can't remember the last time my hair was this long! :D

So I decided to do it today ;) Thanks ladies! I went for a heap of thinning, with shaggy layers, longer than chin-length... a bit of a mixed bag (without the undercut)

    Before

    After
    1zmjlg8.jpg

It's heaps lighter, and feels great :D
  • Very cute! My husbands been begging me to get mine cut around that length but I just can't bring myself to cut my hair that much! It just took so dang long to grow it out! LOL!

    haha

The shortest it is is nose-length, then it gets longer around from there. We talked about asymmetrical bobs and shaving it all off (lol I've done that before, husband says I can't do it again haha) :D It took an hour to thin and layer it all, she kept talking about how much hair I have.
