Today is my third day. I have been journaling all my food and exercise. This is a great diet site and makes dieting so much easier. I have been doing Atkins for years and it always worked for me, with the exception of this time . I stopped losing weight 5 months ago and decided it was time for a "Real Change" although I am quite freightned of the Carbs I am supposed to consume after being so careful for so long :ohwell: I'm hoping for great success.

    Welcome, and good luck.

Don't fret about the carbs, just as long as you don't have an overly large amount of carbs in a day and try to keep them complex carbs (grains) rather then simple carbs (sugar) and you'll be alright!

    Cheers!

I did Atkins for a while too and I've tried so many other things in the past too! UGH.
But something I've heard that I try to remember is...a calorie is a calorie no matter what food it comes from, and a calorie burned is a calorie burned no matter how you burn it. Seems almost too simple doesn't it?
This time around for me is learning to eat healthy and in proper amounts. Exercising consistantly too. It's been a learning experience. Slowly changing my old way of thinking and out with the self-defeating habits, and "quick-fixes". Of all the things I've put my body through, it's time to take care of it the right way.
I hope you will find better health and your desired weight loss through a better balance of foods.
    Take care,
    Paige

This *is* truly a great site! If you're accustomed to Atkins, and being "careful" you'll do just fine. I get the majority of my carbs from fruits and vegetables, low-cal ww bread, wasa toast, brown rice or whole wheat pasta. I stick to higher protein, lower carb meals and snacks (because that's what is best for me) and I typically hit the sites' recommended amount of carbs *without* added sugar or white flour, eating bread, rice, pasta or potatoes. Don't get too hung up about meeting or going over the numbers recommended... it's a guideline. If you eat a balanced selection of clean, whole foods, and drink plenty of water, I think you'll have success. :drinker:

Just for grins and giggles, try logging a few typical Atkins days to see where those foods would have fallen in the MFP recommendations..... that may give you an idea of what you'd need to change up to make your new "real change" work for you. I logged a few pre-MFP days and I was appalled at the amount of calories, carbs, fat, etc I had been consuming - much of it mindlessly; and I thought I had been eating healthy. :noway: Best wishes on this new journey.
