Hi. My name is Megan. I am on this site because I would like to lose weight.
I know what you're thinking. "First-timer, eh? Bet you don't even know what a carbohydrate is, or what an electronic scale looks like." Wrong.
I have been on every single diet, fast, and cleanse that you could possibly name. Right now, I have HCG in my medicine cabinet. I once went an entire day without any food in order to purge from the previous day's binge. My weight has plummeted, skyrocketed, and then plummeted and skyrocketed again. As a freshman in high school, I weighed 117lbs, then 125lbs, then 148lbs. And as a sophmore, I lost all that weight, then put it on again after a breakup. Now I'm a junior, and the weight is still on my once-fit, 120-pound body.
I have horrible habits when it comes to dieting or anything whatsoever that requires commitment. I like to cheat, to rebel, to do as I please. I like sugar and fat, therefore I consume much more than I should. I really do have a terrible, burning passion to be fit and healthy for the rest of my life...the only problem is that I constantly change the way I go about it. I switch diets before they have time to work and end up putting on even more weight!
Well, I'm finally over it. I've said this many times before, that healthy dieting and exercise are the only way to lose weight and keep it off. This time it's different, because after 3 entire years of a vastly-fluctuating, unsure, and degraded me, I've decided that it's time to stop dieting and instead start eating healthy and exercising for life!
I deserve better than this inconsistent, unhealthy thought process of mine. I obsess over numbers. It's time to be patient for once, and let my new healthy habits do all the rest.
Also, I'd like to add that I am vegetarian as of January 7, 2012. I was a pescatarian (fish only, no poultry or red meat) for 6 years. Towards the end of 2011, I began eating chicken again. I don't believe that fish or chicken are necessary to my diet, and to be honest they gross me out sometimes. That is why I've hopped on the vegetarian train --- because I believe that this way of eating is the healthiest for me personally.
*LOOKING FOR FRIENDS* Please request me! And leave a short message if you would. You support me, I support you!

Lol, great post. But nah, all of us are here because we have been through what you have been through.
So the answer is no, we are not thinking or even assuming that you're a first timer who doesn't know what a carbohydrate is or weighing scale looks like.
We all have our ups and downs when it comes to losing weight. Some people took 12 months to lose 100 lbs. I took 24 months to lose 50 lbs... So...
I can't speak for ALL of us, but... for me, I'm in my learning process about healthy eating and mentality too That's why we are here in MFP to learn our mistakes, learn from each other and support one another.
Welcome to this site btw, and I'm sure you'll get to your goal in no time0 -
If you need a friend I would love it. I have sent a request already!!0

Congrats for being here!! Also, congrats on being a vegetarian. If you ever need any recipes or feel that you are in a rut with what you eat, I have been a vegetarian my whole life. I am currently on a journey to going a step further, cutting out dairy products and eggs, etc. It is difficult. What you said in your post is so true! It is the whole package - healthful eating and exercise -- because even vegetarians can be overweight and/or unhealthy. I'm rooting for you!0
