I had a great week. Joined a gym. Haven't had a soda since Sunday. I want to lose 50 lbs by Aug. Any suggestions.

    How are you avoiding fizzy drinks? they're my biggest down fall!

    That's a reasonable goal! I would say log consistently and eat healthy foods. Exercise whenever you can and push yourself. Combine cardio with resistance training. Check out HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).

    Yes, follow a 1 lb per week weight loss program and eat close to your daily calorie goal.
    Eat clean whole foods.
    Do cardio and resistance exercises.

    That's it.
  • Don't deprive yourself of the things you enjoy and making unrealistic expectations, main reason most New Years resolutions fail.
  • Add lots of friends on here, it makes logging so much more fun. =)
  • Log EVERYTHING you put in your mouth!
    Exercise - I'm not very fit so started off slow on a silly step machine thingy... I'm still on it!
    Eat plenty of vegetables and some fruit
    -mushrooms
    -courgettes
    -celery
    -pre-packed veg from the supermarket - microwave sort (I don't have much time during the week and could faff with food or get exercising!)
    Drink water

    Things I couldn't do this without:
    heart rate monitor - cheap one from the local supermarket (ready for an upgrade now! (I'm target driven!)
    decent scale for food
    decent scale for me!
    decent trainers
    challenges on the forums
    checking out other peoples' food diaries (some people would rather not share theirs, I find that looking at what other people eat is how I'm adapting and improving my own eating habits... Things I've 'learned' to eat from MFP pals:
    -prawns
    -extra light Philidelphia - 35g tubs
    -M&S single portion meals - prepacked, cook at home... Yummy treat without the take-away
    -balsamic vinegar - just a taste!
    -skimmed milk, wouldn't have touched it before!!!
    -...)
    weight loss buddies! (Thanks MFP pals!!!)

    Be proud of the losses and don't hang yourself for the little gains!
