Hello everyone,

I think I am about ready to begin exercising (walking). It has taken me a while to get motivated to walk. I think I will start out at home first, then take it a little further. Any suggestions?

go around the block a time or two, then do more each day.

I agree to start small. Try to increase your distance each and every day. Walk as fast as you feel comfortable with at first and you will be pushing yourself before you know it. I walk 4 miles one day and 5 miles the next. I do this rotation 7 days a week. I know it must be working. I lost 7 inches off my thighs in the last 20 days. Good luck !!!! Cindy

Once you get use to it you will never want to stop.

    I love to walk!

I find that if I go around my block, I tend to stop sooner than if i go to a big block that is 2 miles total.

I guess I mean, I can do the 2 miles easily, but it takes 3 times around my home block to go the same distance, & I tend to stop after 1 or 2 laps.

    Enjoy & good luck!

I do the on demand walk at home....also You tube has some walk at home....type in 15 min mile with Leslie Sansome...you can do it in your living room. The site sparkpeople.com also has videos you can use for workout....unfortunately you have to sign on there...but may be worth it.

    Good luck

by all means get started any way you can, you might find it addictive, especially when you find that walking helps the weight come off faster!!

don't be afraid to sweat!!! :glasses:

Don't forget to bring some music with you! It'll really help you pass the time!

Walking is great. I have to walk on my treadmill instead of outside. I live in an area where alot of the neighbor's mean dogs run around loose. So I don't have the option of walking outside. I wish I did though.

I love the walk away the pounds dvd's. They range from 1-5 miles. I have 3 of them and try to switch them up during the week. I don't live in a neighborhood but I do go to the parks and do the walking trails.

Maybe bring some music with you if that would help your walking. I can usually go longer/farther if I have some good music motivating and pushing me a little more...for long walks, I download an ebook into my MP3 player and listen to some of my favourite books and just walk or stroll around!

Hope that helps and happy walking!
