My husband does the cooking

Lucky me? oh yes! But - he's slim and can eat anything he likes. Although he's very supportive he doesn't really 'get' portion control and calorie intake. I think I've managed to get him out of the habit of cooking a low calorie meal and putting it in front of me with the words 'I've added cheese/butter/cream for flavour'. He hates following recipes but he is trying.

  • Luckily I do the cooking but I'm very good at cooking too much! Portion control and me are not best friends!

My fiance does the cooking, too. Fortunately, as long as I remind him regularly he's all too happy to weigh things out according to my instructions. We also compromise on various foods - we have turkey mince instead of beef, but I'll agree to white pasta instead of wholemeal. We also have one day a week where we have separate meals, giving him a chance to indulge without a care, and me a chance to add some variety because he's very picky and only likes three or four meals. That's when I get in my white fish, stir fries, mushroom burgers, stuffed peppers, occasional curries, occasional fajitas etc, and it's when he can have a pizza or steak and chips, for instance - things I won't agree to having regularly.

What a good idea cheryl - I suppose the nearest we get to that is when he wants fish and chips from the shop and I have something I fancy that he doesn't like. Luckily he likes most things (except wholewheat pasta!) but there are some.. will try this, thanks!
