Okay, so list COMMON foods that are kinda weird that you've not eaten before. I have several...

1. croissants (never had one, i know...shameful)
2. dates
3. prunes
4. fig (aside from in fig newtons)
5. boysenberries (maybe this isn't so common)

    parsnips
    kale
    tofu
    rutabaga

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm usually pretty adventurous with trying new (to me) stuff but something about those listed makes me clamp my mouth shut and say "Nay nay!"
  • i've also never had parsnips

only recently had i tried turnips--which are amazing

I LOVE rutabagas!!! But, they are kind of an acquired taste....they are like a turnip.

I have never had parsnips, leeks, tofu, kale, or croissants.

    - Eggplant
    - Squash (any kind)
    - Venison (though I have had rabbit, alligator, ostrich and buffalo lol)
    - Squid, Octopus, or any sea creature alike. I HATE seafood! The smell is enough for me!

That's all I can think of, but I'm sure there's a LOT more.

Shellfish - I will not touch any of it - at all!
Offal - except liver, I don't mind liver.

Dang, this harder to think of than I thought!
  • It doesn't exist here, but it appears to be common in the U.S. Poptarts. Also sardines and sausages other than the skinny sausages from hot dogs. Onions.

Spaghetti squash. I wouldn't turn it down, but no one's ever cooked it for me, and it never occurs to me to buy one.

It makes me sad how many people have never tried kale.

    I have never eaten venison, though I'd like to try. . . . I think that's the only (semi)common thing. I'm pretty adventurous :)
  • clams...i may have tried them but cannot recall.

    anchovies

    squid

    tapioca pudding
  • I've never had ranch dressing! It freaks me out for some reason...

Also, for everyone saying they've never had anchovies: if you've ever eaten in a real Italian restaurant -- or Korean, or Malaysian, or Philippine -- or had Caesar dressing or Worcestershire sauce or Asian fish sauce, chances are pretty strong that you've had some and didn't know it.

beets and fennel. Both on my list to try soon

also, most seafood just looks/smells gross, same with liver.

I ate a raw mango for the first time a month ago - awesome!

I've never eaten raw oysters. The whole concept of it is disgusting to me.
