If you decide to take iron supplement, the only brand I've ever found that doesn't cause nasties like constipation, gas, diarrhea, bloating, and even more gas, is Proferrin. It is made from dessicated bovine hemoglobin so it absorbs really really well .The package says to take 3 a day, but I have found that 1 a day works because it is so absorbable.

beautyreaps is right - you don't need the protein to get iron.

    Look at this website

If you need additional protein - whey protein would be an option can be mixed with water in a 'shake'

Make sure to watch the sugar if your going to eat protein bars...they are loaded with it! Your best bet is the protein shake for at your desk. That's what I do. :)

Red Beets and leafy green veggies are incredibly high in iron (Dark greens, not iceberg). I am slightly anemic so use a beet powder supplement and a leafy green supplement from The AIM Companies. I also use a pea powder protien because I cannot stand whey or soy protien.
