Drinking more water...help!

Hey! I'm having a really hard time drinking my "8 glasses a day." I carry a Nalgene bottle with me to class and we have many options on campus to fill up, so there really should be no excuses. I drink a lot of tea, but can only afford to make it at home and once I'm out for the day, I can't make any.
Long story short, does anyone have any motivators for drinking more water? (Other than Crystal Light/similar products)

I make myself drink all my water while I'm at work, since I'm just not a thirsty person. So I have "water pounding time" every hour. I have a remember set to go off every hour and when it goes off I make myself drink 8 oz of water.0

nope sorry- I get sick or water and can't drink a lot of it (besides during a workout) without crystal light at home- or at work MIO. I am running around all day at work and do not have a desk. Mio is easy to stick in my pocket and I love it.0

Well Im good at drinking my 8 glasses a day but things I do to help me I carry larger water bottles so I drink more. Also, when i work out I get super thirsty I drink 3 bottles just working out. But fruits and veggies have water in them too, so if your eating alot of that I would consider that too.. GOODLUCK!!0

Add a slice of fruit - orange, lime, lemon, strawberry, cucumber....0

I like to put a few drops of lemon juice in it to make it taste like something.
Another thing you could try would be to put some tea bags in a ziplock baggie and carry them in your bag with you to school. On most campuses you can usually find a microwave somewhere to heat up some water for a cup of tea. From what I've been reading on here, you can count your tea as water intake.
Good luck!0 -
I agree about scheduling the water.. I get so distracted at work and I don't get the water in, so I make guidelines -- I'm a teacher so I'll make sure I finish my water bottle every period, and refill before the next one. THat way I get in almost all of my water before i leave work.0

I have a big mind block when it comes to drinking water. The last place I lived had a sewage treatment center a whopping 20 feet from our house (not even joking) and the water from our faucets sometimes smelled like...well, sewage.
It doesn't help that I've been finding floaties in our water here, even with a filter.
I'm kind of a water "cheat". I figure that if you're getting it from tea or coffee, it still counts!
I'm tempted to figure out how many shot glasses of water I'd need to make my eight cups. I'm not into drinking (it upsets my stomach, go figure, and alcohol has so many calories!), mind you, but I feel like it would have to be easier than sipping for an hour at a glass of water and feeling queasy the whole time. Hm!0 -
I down 2-3 cups before breakfast so that I am not starving. I have 2 32 oz nalgene bottles that I have with me (at work, in fridge if at home, in car, in bag....) I make it a goal to drink both of them while I am at work. That puts me at 10-11 cups before supper. I then fill 1 up when I get home and make it my goal to drink that before bed. That bumps it to 14-15. I can't do any mix-ins because I am allergic to artifical sweeteners so if I need a different "flavor" I use citrus slices, apple slices, berries, cucumbers, etc.
Just make it a challenge to yourself and do it! Good luck!0
