Slow cooker recipes

My job requires me to be at work till 6:30 and when I get home I am starving and my husband is starving. We often just had really unhealthy foods in the freezer to quickly deep fry or heat up in the oven with little work included.

I would really love to be able to come home to a hot and healthy meal in the crock pot instead. If anyone has some good slow cooker recipes that can cook for more than 8 hours that would be awesome! Thank you.

  • I don't know if you will get this but I have a few great slow cook ideas. one of my favorite is turkey chili so good and good for you. I use fresh tomatoes but you can use a diced can as well

    ingredients include:

    one whole onion

    1 to 2 jalapeños (depends on how hot you like it )

    one large can of tomatoes diced

    a whole stock celery in place of beans to make it extra low cal
    or
    kidney beans 1 can
    or both:)

    one package of ground lean turkey

    package of chili mix ( I love carol shelbys chili mix)

    make sure to brown the ground beef first then throw all the ingredients in the slow cooker, stir and let simmer the longer the better so over night is great

    another idea
    you can through in chicken with some cilantro or hot sauce and a lil water and let that cook over night and makes great shredded chicken for salads and more!

    I've got tons of them. I love my crock pot! Here are some of my favorites. I also make a lot of soup and stews during the cold months. Yummy!!!

    Beans and Ham
    4 cans of green beans
    4 medium potatoes, diced
    1 onion, diced
    1 lb. cubed ham
    Cook for 6-8 hours on low.

    Veggie Chili
    2 cans red beans
    2 cans black beans
    3 cans diced tomatoes
    1 can diced green chilies
    2 cups frozen corn
    1 diced onion
    1 pack of your favorite chili seasoning
    Cook on low 6-8 hours. Serve with sour cream and shredded cheese.

    Salsa Chicken
    3 chicken breasts
    2 jars salsa
    1 can black beans
    1 can white kidney beans
    2 cups frozen corn
    Cook 6-8 on low. Shred chicken and serve over rice or pasta.

    Shepherd’s Pie
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 small can tomato paste
    2 tbls Worcestershire sauce
    1 small diced onion
    1 tbsp. garlic powder
    2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
    3 cups mashed potatoes
    Cook ground beef in skillet till cooked through. Mix in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, onion and garlic powder. Stir in mixed vegetables and place in crockpot. Cook on low 6-8 hours. Top with mashed potatoes a half hour before serving.

    Chicken in Mushroom Sauce
    4 chicken breasts
    1 ½ cups canned mushrooms
    2 cups sour cream
    2 cans cream of mushroom soup
    2 cans cream of chicken soup
    Cook on low 6-8 hours. Serve over rice
