plz take your In N Out burger chain out of the great state of Texas, I had my first and last hamburger the other day and wow It hands down has the worst french fries I have ever had and the burger was just one step above a school lunch burger, only because it had veggies on it.

That'll teach ya for goin' out for a burger and fries. ;) The all-time best burgers are the ones you make at home anyway... more control over the ingredients and easy ways to make 'em taste FABULOUS...while still being WAY healthier than anything you'll get at a drive-thru or take out. :)

I bet you still you still remember it...lol the ten trip to the restroom was the tear for me......cooking it in mustard must turn that meat into magic, Now the food poisoning on my first trip is just dumb luck but, a bad meal that's something totally different

I grew up in California, but lived in the DC Metro area for 12 years and fell in luv with Five Guys Burgers. I'm not a big fan of their fries however. Juicier, more flavor. I adore In-N-Out Fries.

Now, I will not turn an In-n-Out burger away, but here in Cali if you have a Counter Burger joint near you, you should go!

The Habit is another SoCal burger chain.

Not a fan of Tommy's Burgers.

I am a SoCal native, and I would eat In and Out for Five Guys any day!

I've lived in So Cal now for about 4 years and I didn't like the whole In-n-Out craze at first, but let me tell you what, I'm a believer now. Not only are their burgers incredible (cooked in mustard? genius!), but their customer service is incredible (for the most part, there are a few stores in the "bad areas" with poor service, but that is to be expected...). Every restaurant messes up once in awhile.

Regarding the fries - ask for them "Well Done" - it's the way to go. Perfect fries then.

Fat Burger is incredible as well.

Five Guys burgers are pretty darn tasty too, although, I'm not a fan of their fries.
  • So agree with OP moved to California in April 2011 and of course we tried N and Out it was awful!! Can't understand why it is so popular it sucks!! Frisches is the best burger type restaurant although they don't have them here:( not that I can eat one now anyways

I've been there a few times and I've got no complaints...

Is it true that most "locals" to in-n-out (with so many now, i'm doubting anyone is really a local anymore) never order off the menu? That there is some ~secret-esque way of ordering?

Hmmm how is this possible? People from somewhere else saying In-N-Out tastes terrible and asserting that their burger place they grew up around is the best...might have to send this one to crimelab...gonna be a late night.

Also, you've never heard of the "secret" menu? Granted, it was much more secret when AOL was still big, now everyone knows.
Most of what i get isnt on the traditional menu.
If im feelin nastalgic, ill get a regular double double w/lemonade...even then its protein style which isnt on the menu :S

So many styles, so many custom orders. Theres like maybe 8 things on the printed menu, tho everyone knows theres more to the story.

If i were to not give a damn, but kinda still give one...id order:
    4x4 w/chilli, split, california-protein style
    Neo shake
    Animal fries well done

Its horrible that by In-N-Out being in the state of Texas, the OP is forced by law to go there on a daily basis until they leave the state. So yes....they must go!
