Okay, so I just got started with MFP and have about 20 pounds to lose. I currently do not workout above and beyond the daily calorie burn of raising my 2 year old and keeping up with the kids in my in-home daycare.

I need some good ideas for easy workouts I can do in my living room while kids are napping. That seems to be the only free time I get. I don't currently have any of the game systems or workout dvds...hopefully will get some soon.

Just need to burn calories and get rid of my baby belly and want to know the most effective exercises for a beginner....

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do some circuit training type exercises. Situps, Pushups, Jumping Jacks, Planks, Lunges, and many variations of each of these. Incorporate light dumbbells and do strength training exercises with them. You can Youtube videos to learn exercises and routines.

Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred dvd is just $10-15 and can be bought at walmart, online, etc. Its a 25 minute workout, perfect for naptime.

Look at collagevideo.com for LOW impact workouts (if you are concerned about waking up sleeping kids by jumping around). Collagevideo.com will give video clips, reviews, required equipment, fitness level ........ loads of information. I never buy a DVD without checking there first.

Netflix has streaming & rental workouts

Library - many DVDs for free

Hulu.com has a health & fitness channel ..... I really like the Self DVDs with Ellen Barrett.

Best Buy has lots of videos on sale. I like Walk Slim 5 Really Big Miles for cardio. Low impact, chaptered so you can do what you have time for. For strength training I really like pilates - Ana Caban is wonderful. Ellen Barrett has lots of videos - hers tend to be a combination of strength & cardio. 10 Minute Solutions are great for sneaking in short workouts - these DVDs have 5 - 10 minute workouts.
